📰 OpenCourant: Rocky Linux Developers Create Community Fork Of OpenRadioss

This week was the surprising and unfortunate decision of Siemens shutting down the OpenRadioss project as the four year old open-source project started by Altair Engineering with their prominent Radioss finite element solver. Siemens didn't just end the project but they shutdown the GitHub repository that hosted the open-source code and removed other resources that had built around it.

Vercel confirms KVM zero-day that may let guests seize host root

Vercel has confirmed a KVM zero-day reported through its Sandbox bug bounty program, with researcher Paulos Yibelo claiming it enables a virtual machine to escape and gain root access on its host. Vercel Sandbox runs Firecracker microVMs on KVM, but the vulnerability’s technical details and affected versions have not been made public. There is not yet enough information to determine which KVM deployments are affected or what fix administrators should apply.

DNS root key rollover: check your resolver before October 11

The DNS root’s signing key is scheduled to change on October 11, 2026, and a resolver that has not trusted the replacement could make otherwise healthy websites unreachable. The new key, KSK-2024 (key tag 38696), has been published since January 2025; now operators can test whether their resolver recognizes it. Most website operators do not need to act, but DNSSEC resolver operators should verify readiness.
