So in this revaluation of the ancient sacred Roman tradition which Julian attempted, what matters is the “esoteric” idea of nature of the “gods” and “knowledge” of them. Such knowledge signifies interior realization. From such a vantage the gods appear to be not poetic fictions or theologico-philosophastic abstractions, but rather symbols and projections of transcendental states of consciousness.

Thus Julian, who was himself an initiate of the Mithraic Mysteries, strictly associates a superior self-knowledge with the path which conducts to “knowledge of the gods” - an end so high, that he does not hesitate to say that dominion over all the lands, both Roman and barbarian, is nothing compared to it.

New study of ancient Sicily.

DNA from the indigenous Siciani people of Sicily shows barely any Indo-European ancestry. This is unsurprising as they didn’t speak an Indo-European language.

The Mediterranean islands, Sicily & Sardinia & Crete, were the only places in Europe which were not overrun by Indo-Europeans during the Bronze age.

21 of their DNA samples come from Greek soldiers who died in two different battles against Carthage during the 400s BC.

9 of the soldiers, so almost half, are not Greek.

All of these foreigner soldiers came from various parts of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.

You’d expect them to come from other parts of the “Mediterranean world”. Like from the Near East.

Wow so…..🤯🤯🤯

Two of the Greek Soldiers are for sure Scythians.

Two are for sure northern Europeans. "Balto-Slavs." They cluster closest to Bronze age Estonia. They probably came from way up north in the Baltic.

One is for sure Caucasian.

Two appear to be Illyrians. They cluster with Illyrian DNA samples.
