1917 - Messines Battle and the invented 10,000 victims of the 19 mines
During the First World War, in the early morning of June 7, 1917, nineteen oversized English mines were detonated under the German positions in the south of the West Flanders town of Ypres, between the towns of Wytschaete and Messines, killing 10,000 German soldiers in one fell swoop be. This fantasy number has been parroted unchecked on the Internet, in newspapers and in books since it was published in a book written by a Brit, although history probably happened differently than you can read everywhere today.

WWI History
The Battle of Mesen (Messines) was the beginning of the Third Battle of Ypres against Germany during the First World War. After initial skirmishes that began on May 21, 1917, but which stalled, the enemy detonated 19 of a total of 22 mines that had been dug under the German defensive positions in the previous twelve months at a depth of 15 to 30 meters in tunnels up to 8,000 meters long at around four in the morning on June 7, 1917. On average, each mine contained 21 tons of explosives, the largest mine at St. Eloi even contained 42 tons. The explosion killed around 10,000 German soldiers within 30 seconds. After the mass murder, the English and their allied colonial troops fired a barrage of around 2,250 guns at the German positions. Nine Allied divisions of the British 2nd Army then went on the attack and were supported by the use of poison gas and 72 new tanks. The German defenses then finally collapsed. The explosion of the mines was one of the largest non-nuclear explosions of all time. One of the mines was discovered and defused by the German troops in time. On June 17, 1955, a lightning strike triggered the explosion of another mine under a field. This created a crater 60 m in diameter and 20 m deep. It is suspected that there were at least two and possibly even four more mines that did not explode at that time, one of them directly under a farm. However, since the tunnels have since collapsed, it is impossible to defuse the detonators.

German Newsweek No. 718- 7 June 1944
Despite the Allied landings in Normandy happening the day before, The German Newsweek, like all newsreels back then, had a delay of at least a few days, so it is not featured in this episode.

Instead, this issue shows footage from German universities and student unions, footage of a German equestrian in Paris and a snake dance in Berlin, a 3rd Reich rally in Czech, and antisemitic propaganda scenes, showing Jews in Moscow and New York, insulting them as thieves and fencers.
It also shows footage of the cathedral of Ruen in France, damaged by an American airraid, awarding of Knights Cross and building of bunkers on the Eastern Front, combat footage from Italy, and footage from German fighter planes engaing Allied bombers.

German Soldiers
Hans Hermann Theodor Schmidt (25 December 1899 in Höxter; murdered 7 June 1951 in Landsberg am Lech) was a German soldier, Freikorps fighter, businessman and finally SS-Hauptsturmführer of the Waffen-SS. Sentenced to death by the victor's American court after torture.

Shortly before his execution he declared:

"Colonel! I hereby once again solemnly protest against the verdict that led to this execution. In the face of God, before whom I will stand in the next moment, I declare that I am not guilty of the crimes I have been accused of. All the evidence that my defense attorney has presented and that proves my innocence has been shattered against the iron wall of Heidelberg. I declare that I have done nothing other than what you, gentlemen, are doing now: I have carried out orders that were lawfully given to me. I am leaving as the last of the Landsberg death row inmates. I die innocent!

& Outbreak King
Eduard Heinrich Kiefer (June 7, 1910, after gravestone, or in 1915, after actor legend, in Aachen; November 30, 1995 in Munich) was a German ethnologist, actor, voice actor [1] and officer of the Wehrmacht, most recently Major and Knight Cross of the Second World War. After the war and captivity until 1946, he changed his name to Jan Heinrich Tilman Kiwe and joined, among others. as Tilman Kiwe, Til Kiwe, Til Kiver and Till Kiwe.

Like the successful Franz von Werra, Kiefer was (ultimately unsuccessful) outbreak king. He had tried 17 times to break out of VS-American prison camps. He worked his uniform into civilian clothes, colored them (with brown vegetable juice) and set out into the supposed freedom. He spoke fluent English and used his knowledge of language and people to move around in the country more or less inconspicuously to organize further escape. Once he had almost made it from Arizona to Mexico in an adventurous way, but was taken up by border protection in Texas.

When he was caught in Trinidad, Colorado, he landed after 725 kilometers of escape route on February 28, 1944 at the St. Louis Union Station (the former main station of St. Louis, Missouri), where he was discovered and arrested by the military police. Then the pressed jaw of the press was captured as a capt. Till Edward Kiefer, Nazi Pilot (Nazi aircraft leader) presented.
When he was allowed to play in "blasted chains" alongside Steve McQueen as soldier Frick (Sta Lag Air III near the city of Sagan), he advised the director in fleeing tactics.
