一開始人們用命令行和電腦交互，但需要提前學習和記憶，否則你可能搞壞整個系統。後來出現了圖形介面，工具欄菜單和按鈕，操作更平易近人。可是圖形按鈕越來越多，典型如 Photoshop，學習和試錯成本同樣很高，人們甚至花費數年來學習一個圖形軟件（雖然對於多媒體工作有時是必要的）。比起輸入和點擊，按下快捷鍵是最快的交互方式，然而前提是知曉按鍵會觸發什麼魔法，我們覺得很酷的事情就是寫一套配置來綁定按鍵與命令或腳本，例如那些 Vim 和 i3 用戶。
我覺得 Command Palette 是最均衡的解決方式。觸發以後輸入你的需求，模糊搜索匹配，顯示可選的命令或操作，以及預設的快捷鍵，順便記住。已經有那麼多模糊搜索文件的命令，其實也可以製作一個命令行的 Command Palette，我偶爾會有「原來還有這個命令」的驚訝時刻。微軟應該速速抄襲蘋果的幫助菜單搜索，还有 GNOME。
