ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz رحمه الله said in his last khuṭbah:

“Indeed you have not been created for mere play, Nor will you be left in vain. And for you is an appointed time, Wherein Allāh will descend to judge between his servants. Truly the failure is he who has left the Mercy of Allāh, Which has encompassed all things. And who has been forbidden from Paradise, Its width as wide as the heavens and the earth. Do you not see that you are indeed in a destroyed plunder, And those after you shall inherit it?

Like that it will be, until it is returned to the Best of Inheritors (Allāh). And everyday you are going back and forth escorting (someone) to Allāh. His term has been settled, And his life is over. Will you then bid him farewell and call him from the rough and unleveled cracks of the earth? He has left all provisions, And left his beloved ones, He has settled to live among dust, And is due to face the reckoning. He is free from what he has left behind, And in dire need of what he has put forth.

So fear Allāh O servants of Allāh, Before the descent of death and the coming of his time. Indeed, I say this to you, But no one knows as much as I do of the sins (I have) earned. But I seek the forgiveness of Allāh and repent to Him.”

He then lifted the ends of his cloak and weeped. Then he got down and did not return to the minbar until he passed away. May the Mercy of Allāh be upon him.

لطائف المعارف (ص ١٤٩)

Imam ash-Shafi'ee (rahimahullah) states:

No issue befalls the followers of Allah's religion except there is an indication in the Book of Allah (the Quran) pointing to the path of guidance concerning it.

استغفرالله العظيم لي ولجميع المسلمين والمسلمات والمؤمنين والمؤمنات الأحياء منهم والأموات إلى يوم القيامة.

The correct time of Sahoor ~ Sheikh Sāleh al-Usaimi

The time of Sahar is the time between the false dawn and the true dawn.

Sahoor is the meal that is eaten during this time.

Al-Bukhāri narrated from Anas that Zayd bin Thābit said, “We ate sahoor with the Prophet ﷺ, then he stood up to pray.” Anas then asked, “How long was there between the athan and sahoor?” Zayd replied, “As long as it takes to recite fifty ayahs.”

So the one who eats a meal with the intention of Sahoor before this time should know that he doesn’t get the reward for Sahoor.

Some of the people of knowledge said the time for Sahoor is 15 minutes before the athan, some said 20 minutes, and some said 45 minutes.

What is known from the Sahābah is that they would delay their Sahoor as much as they could, hoping for its reward. والله اعلم

لو علم النّاسُ ما في قراءة القرآن بالتدبّر لاشتغلوا بها عن كلّ ما سواها،فإذا قرأه بتفكّرٍ حتى مرّ بآية هو محتاجٌ إليها في شفاء قلبه، كرّرهاولو مئةَ مرّة، ولو ليلةً؛ فقراءةُ آيةٍ بتفكّر وتفهُّمٍ خيرٌ من قراءة ختمة بغير تدبّر وتفهّم.

The cure for the hard hearts in Ramadan...

وتوكل على الحي الذي لا يموت..

Servants of Allah, half of this blessed month of Ramadan is behind us. Who among you has held themselves accountable before Allah and been just? Who among you has fulfilled their obligations as they are truly meant to be fulfilled? Who among you has resolved, before the gates of Paradise close shut, to build lofty rooms for themselves; one above the other? Your month is decreasing, so increase your efforts as though you have already bid it farewell. With every new month comes a successor - but where can you find a successor worthy of Ramadan?

— Ibn Rajab, Laṭāʾif al-maʿārif, 388

Ramadan is the month of du’a (supplication, invocation),

and the fasting person has an invocation (every day) that is not rejected,

and on Friday there is an hour for an answer (so coincide these two).

Do not be weak in supplication on this blessed day (Friday).

an-Nawawi (rahimahullah) said:

According to ‘ijma (it is unanimously agreed) that it is Mustahabb (highly recommended) to make a lot of du’a on Friday.

N: The one who is truly certain of a response is he who knows that nothing stands between him and what he wants, except du’a.
