All You Need to Know About Jumu’ah (Friday)

1. The Messenger of Allāh (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

Verily, Allah has made this day (of Friday) a celebration for the Muslims. So whoever comes to Friday (prayer), then let him bathe himself, and if he has any perfume let him put some on, and use the toothstick.

[Reported by Ibn Majah 1098 and Saheeh at-Targheeb 1/298]

2. Shaykh Saalih ibn Fawzaan (hafidhahullah) was asked:

What is the ruling on sending text messages every Friday and ending with the phrase “Jumah Mubarak”? 

He replied: 

The early generation did not congratulate one another on Fridays (did not say Jumu’ah Mubarak to each other) so we should not introduce anything that they did not do.

3. Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

The Friday prayer is from the greatest of congregations of the Muslims.

4. The Messenger of Allāh (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

Increase in salutations upon me, on the day of Friday (Jumu'ah) and its night (from Thursday after Maghrib).

5. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) reported to have said:

The best of prayers with Allāh is the prayer of morning (Fajr) on the Day of Friday in congregation.

6. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays will be adorned with light from that Friday to the next.

[Saheeh Jami’ as-Sagheer, 2/6470]

‎7. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will have a light for him between this Friday and the next.

8. The Messenger of Allāh (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

Send prayer upon me abundantly on the day of Jumu’ah (Friday) & on the night of Jumu’ah (Thursday night) for he who sends prayer upon me one time, Allāh sends prayer upon him 10 times.

[Saheeh aj-Jami’, 1209]

9. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

There is such an hour on Friday, that if any Muslim makes Du’ā during it, his Du’ā will be accepted.

[Saheeh al-Bukhari, 5295, Saheeh Muslim 852]

10. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

Whoever performs Ghusl on Friday, and bathes completely, and goes early, arriving early, gets close and listens and is silent, there will be for him in every step he takes, the reward of a year of fasting and standing (in prayer).

11. Prophet Muḥammad (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

Jummah to Jummah expiates the minor sins in between them except for the major sins.

[Silsilah as-Saheehah, 3623]

12. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said:

The best of days with Allāh is the day of Jumu'ah.

[Saheeh aj-Jami’, 1098, as-Silsilah as-Saheehah, 1502]

13. Imām Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

A time when Du’ās will be accepted is during the last hour of ‘Asr on Jumu’ah.

14. Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

The Hour of Response in it (i.e., Friday) is like the Night of Decree in Ramadaan.

15. Sa'id bin Jubayr (radiyAllahu ‘anh) said:

That I hit whips on my head, it is more beloved to me, than me talking whilst the Imām is giving a sermon.

[Tabaqaat Ibn Sa’d, 6/260]

16. Imam Shafi’ee (rahimahullah) used to say,

I love to send plenty of salat (salutations) upon the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) all the time and I love it more so on the day of Jumu’ah.

﴿تَبارَكَ الَّذي إِن شاءَ جَعَلَ لَكَ خَيرًا مِن ذلِكَ جَنّاتٍ تَجري مِن تَحتِهَا الأَنهارُ وَيَجعَل لَكَ قُصورًا﴾ ♥️

الدال على الخير كفاعله ♡︎

"Allah is Wise and may test a person with sin in order to set him straight, just as He may test a person with hunger in order to improve his health. Adam was only chosen after he had committed sin and repented therefrom."

Sha’ban - Introduction to Ramadan

In his discussion of the month of Sha'ban, this 8th month of the Islamic calendar, al-Hafidth Ibn Rajab (‎رحمه الله) mentioned:

[كان شعبان كالمقدمة لرمضان شرع فيه ما يشرع في رمضان من الصيام وقراءة القرآن ليحصل التأهب لتلقي رمضان وترتاض النفوس بذلك على طاعة الرحمن]

Sha'ban is like a introduction to Ramadan. The things which are legislated in Ramadan - such as fasting and reciting the Qur'an - are also legislated in Sha'ban so that one may be prepared to meet Ramadan and get himself used to obeying al-Rahman.

‏طالبَ العلم:
لا يدخل عليك شهر رمضان إلا وقد أنهيت قراءة كتاب الصيام كاملا، من أحد كتب الفقه أو شروح الحديث؛ لتستذكر ما نسيت، وتفيد من يسألك.
والمدة الباقية إلى رمضان يمكنك فيها _بإذن الله_ قراءة كتاب الصيام من أي كتاب مهما كان مطوّلا، من دون أن يقطعك هذا عن قراءاتك الأخرى ودروسك.

وَقالَ الحَسَنُ: نَزَلَ القُرْآنُ لِيُتَدَبَّرَ ويُعْمَلَ بِهِ. فاتَّخِذُوا تِلاوَتَهُ عَمَلًا.

فَلَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أنْفَعَ لِلْعَبْدِ في مَعاشِهِ ومَعادِهِ، وأقْرَبَ إلى نَجاتِهِ مِن تَدَبُّرِ القُرْآنِ، وإطالَةِ التَّأمُّلِ فِيهِ، وجَمْعِ الفِكْرِ عَلى مَعانِي آياتِهِ، فَإنَّها تُطْلِعُ العَبْدَ عَلى مَعالِمِ الخَيْرِ والشَّرِّ بِحَذافِيرِهِما، وعَلى طُرُقاتِهِما وأسْبابِهِما وغاياتِهِما وثَمَراتِهِما، ومَآلِ أهْلِهِما، وتَتُلُّ في يَدِهِ مَفاتِيحَ كُنُوزِ السَّعادَةِ والعُلُومِ النّافِعَةِ، وتُثَبِّتُ قَواعِدَ الإيمانِ في قَلْبِهِ، وتُشَيِّدُ بُنْيانَهُ وتُوَطِّدُ أرْكانَهُ، وتُرِيهِ صُورَةَ الدُّنْيا والآخِرَةِ والجَنَّةِ والنّارِ في قَلْبِهِ، وتُحْضِرُهُ بَيْنَ الأُمَمِ، وتُرِيهِ أيّامَ اللَّهِ فِيهِمْ، وتُبَصِّرُهُ مَواقِعَ العِبَرِ، وتُشْهِدُهُ عَدْلَ اللَّهِ وفَضْلَهُ، وتُعَرِّفُهُ ذاتَهُ، وأسْماءَهُ وصِفاتِهِ وأفْعالَهُ، وما يُحِبُّهُ وما يُبْغِضُهُ، وصِراطَهُ المُوصِلَ إلَيْهِ، وما لِسالِكِيهِ بَعْدَ الوُصُولِ والقُدُومِ عَلَيْهِ، وقَواطِعَ الطَّرِيقِ وآفاتِها، وتُعَرِّفُهُ النَّفْسَ وصِفاتِها، ومُفْسِداتِ الأعْمالِ ومُصَحِّحاتِها وتُعَرِّفُهُ طَرِيقَ أهْلِ الجَنَّةِ وأهْلِ النّارِ وأعْمالَهُمْ، وأحْوالَهم وسِيماهُمْ، ومَراتِبَ أهْلِ السَّعادَةِ وأهْلِ الشَّقاوَةِ، وأقْسامَ الخَلْقِ واجْتِماعَهم فِيما يَجْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ، وافْتِراقَهم فِيما يَفْتَرِقُونَ فِيهِ.

مقامات الصبر:-
1. الجزع والتَّسخُّط: حرام
2. الصبر: واجب
3. الرِّضا: مستحب
4. الشكر والحمد: مستحب
ومن وسائل المعينة على الصبر:
⁃ معرفة أنَّ المصيبة من علامات إرادة الله الخير بالعبد المسلم
⁃ إستصغار المصيبة بالنسبة لغيرها
~ عدة الصابرين؛ لابن القيم

قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية رحمه الله:
درجة الحلم والصبر على الأذى والعفو عن الظلم أفضل أخلاق أهل الدنيا والآخرة يبلغ الرجل بها مالا يبلغه بالصيام والقيام
قال تعالى: وَالْكَاظِمِينَ الْغَيْظَ وَالْعَافِينَ عَنِ النَّاسِ وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ.

قال محمد بن يوسف رحمه الله تعالى:

‏" كان سفيان الثوري يقيمنا بالليل، يقول: قوموا يا شباب صلوا ما دمتم شبابًا ".

Approaching Ramadan

When Sha’ban would begin, 'Amr b. Qays would close his shop and free himself for the recitation of the Quran.

Amr ibnu Qays (رحمه الله) used to say:

"Glad tidings to he who rectifies himself before Ramadān (arrives)."

هل تُريد أن تكون في رمضان من السّابقين؟

«من استعداد السلف لرمضان»

عن أنسٍ - رضي الله عنه - قال: 
كان المسلمون إذا دخل شعبان
انْكَبُّوا على المصاحفِ فقرؤوها،
وأخرجوا زكاة أموالهم تقويةً
للضعيف والمسكين على صيامِ
رمضان.

وقال سلمةُ بن كهيل - رحمه الله - :
كان يُقال :شهرُ شعبان شهرُ القراء.

وكان حبيبُ بن أبي ثابتٍ -رحمهُ الله-
إذا دخل شعبان قال: هذا شهرُ القراء.

وكان عمرو بن قيسٍ - رحمهُ الله -
إذا دخل شعبان أغلق حانوته،
وتَفَرَّغ لقراءة القرآن "

قال الإمام ابن عثيمين رحمه الله :

متى كنت متقيًا الله فثق أن الله سيجعل لك مخرجاً من كل ضيق .
