Shame on you! …in that you don’t reflect upon the blessing (of this Quran) that Allah has bestowed upon you!

When (a person) recites the Quran
and thinks about what it means,
that is from the most powerful of

sins.

Shame on you! …in that you leave the Quran so blatantly behind you and you don’t even look in it, in the day or in the night.

[Shaykh Sa’eed Raslan (hafidhullaah) translated from Shaykh’s website: www(dot)rslan(dot)com, Translated Transcription of ‘Shame on You!’, Video Talk titled “Shame On You!”]
and from his grace upon the believers is that nothing is ordained for them from the good or hardship except that there is good in it for them, when they are touched with ease, they are greatful and their reward are the rewards of the greatful, and when they are touched with hardship, and they are patient upon it, their rewards are the rewards of the patient and Allah سبحانه وتعلى says in surah az zumar

"Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account [i.e., limit]."
"and call upon Him with fear and hope"

that is fear of His punishment and hope of His reward, hoping that one's deeds will be accepted and fearing that they will be rejected, not offering supplication in the manner of one who thinks that he is entitled to at response from his Lord, filled with self-admiration and raising himself above his station, or in the manner of one who is heedless and not focusing.

The etiquette of supplication as mentioned in this verse is that one should be sincere in calling upon Allah alone, which is indicated by offering supplication in private, concealing and hiding it. There should be both fear and hope, with no heedlessness, complacency or not caring about the response. This is part of offering supplication in the proper manner, because doing every act of worship properly means striving one's best and doing it in a perfect manner with no shortcomings in any way.

"it is legislated for the fasting person to increase in supplications during the whole day for the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم mentioned the fasting person from amongst "the three categories of persons whose supplications would not be rejected."

And not what some of the people assume regarding the specification of the time for supplications which is before breaking the fast, it is not authentic as for the fasting person the whole day during which he fasts is the time for suppications, just as it is during the time of breaking the fast."

time is either for you or against you

shaykh ʿabd al-Raḥmān ibn nāṣir al-siʿdī (رحمه الله) said:

"time is either for you as a profit and prize, or otherwise it is either against you as a burden and a sin or as a loss and a missed opportunity. there are the three options, and every person is in one of these three.
so whoever spends his time in obedience to Allāh, such as through prayer, fasting, reciting qurʾān, dhikr, jihād, ḥajj, learning/teaching, or giving Allāh His due rights or giving Allāh’s creation their due rights, then this is an increase and a profit for him. when the time comes, he will remark favorably on the outcome and will be delighted with has he had sent forward for himself.
of course, anyone like this needs some relaxation and to make use of whatever good things enable him to perform those acts of worship. these means then take the same ruling as his time, and with a righteous intention these things can themselves become acts of worship.
meanwhile, those who spend their time in evil, disobedience, persisting in any types of sins that anger Allāh, whether they be related to Allāh’s rights or to the rights of His created beings, then this person is rushing toward a home of sorrow and he will have the worst ending. he will find that the outcomes of his works had been cut off at the root. so even if he had had some small enjoyment during his worldly life, that will give way to a long period of regret and sorrow.
and those who spend their time in heedlessness and busying themselves with entertaining themselves and things that do not bring about any benefit — even if they are do not involve sinning — have wasted their lives, and yet time is one’s most precious asset! they have fallen into terrible loss and missed out on any gain or profit.
Exalted is He who has made such remarkable differences among His slaves."
