Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
We have crossed the middle of Ramadan.
More than fifteen days of this blessed month have already passed, never to return again.
Time does not wait.
It does not wait for motivation.
It does not wait for the “right moment.”
It does not wait for us to feel ready.
Ibn al-Jawzi once wrote to his son that every hour is made of breaths, and every breath is a treasure chest.
Think about it:
A single breath can carry dhikr.
A single moment can carry reward.
The Prophet ﷺ told us that whoever says:
“Subhan Allah al-Adheem wa bihamdih”
a date palm tree is planted for him in Jannah.
One phrase.
A few seconds.
A tree in Paradise.
So what does that make a wasted hour?
A wasted morning?
A wasted day?
Some of the Salaf would complete the Qur’an three times in a single day and night.
Others would spend the entire night in prayer, then wake themselves after a short nap, reminding themselves:
“The sleep in the grave will be long.”
And us?
Ramadan is still here.
A few days remain.
But those days are precious.
If you feel you have not done enough, then know that the door is still open.
And if you feel you have done much, then this is not the moment to slow down.
Because the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Indeed, actions are judged by their endings.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6493)

"O' you who has wasted the years of his life, amend those lost and wasted years in the night of al-Qadr (decree), for verily it is equivalent to that of a lifetime."

The central supplication for the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr) mentioned in the traditions is asking Allah for forgiveness and well-being. Those who perform righteous deeds are in need of well-being so that their actions become easy for them, and they are in need of forgiveness after completing them so that their Lord may accept them and overlook their shortcomings. By His grace and mercy they were able to act, and thus their deeds—from beginning to end—are surrounded by asking Him for these two things.

This Ramadan, do not forget to ask Allah for every form of khair (goodness). 🤍

Remember the beautiful duʿā’ of Prophet Mūsā (peace be upon him):

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
Rabbi innī limā anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqīr. “My Lord, truly I am in need of whatever good You send down to me.” (Qur’an 28:24)

Ask Allah for all that is good—known and unknown, in this life and the next.

May Allah accept our duʿā’, forgive our shortcomings, and fill our hearts with His mercy this blessed Ramadan. 🌙
The previous Ummah were given very long lifespans, and they had a lot of time to perform good deeds. But the lifespan of this Ummah is generally between fifty to sixty years. But Allah blessed this Ummah with special times in which small deeds…»

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

”If the Night of Qadr was some night during the entire year, I’d stand in night prayer the entire year to get it. So what do you suppose should be done for merely ten nights?.”

Ibn al-Qayyim reported:

"فيها يفرق كل أمر حكيم "
"On that night, every precise matter is made distinct" (Quran 44:4)

The decrees for the entire year are inscribed on Laylat al-Qadr. Everything that will happen in the coming year relating to sustenance, marriage, and rainfall, down to the names of the pilgrims. Even life and death - You may see a man strolling through shops, unaware that his name has already been inscribed among the dead.

Bada'i' al-Tafsir - Tafsir Ibn al-Qayyim (Qur'an 44:4)

Marriage, wealth, health, Hajj, death, food, clothing - everything.

On Laylat al-Qadr, the decrees for the coming year are transferred from al-Lawh al-Mahfooz.

"A man once asked al-Hasan while I was listening,

"Is Laylat al-Qadr in every Ramadan?"

He replied,

'Yes, by Allah, besides whom there is no god, it is in every Ramadan. On Laylat al-Qadr, every wise matter is decreed. Allah determines every lifespan, deed, and provision until the next Laylat al-Qadr.'"

Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember.
