“Man is the primary agent of his own destruction, leading himself into sin until he loses the pleasure of everything—joy, life, and happiness.

You know very well that the forbidden relationship you are in, by disobeying Allah, is your inevitable ruin, the cause of your destruction, sorrow, and loss—and yet you continue in it!

Why? Can you guarantee that you will live until tomorrow? Are you satisfied with your current state and where you have reached? Does this relapse please you? Do you not see that your peers have succeeded, excelled, and continued their pursuits without forbidden relationships, while you are still lost in the depths of this relationship, believing that your fate is to remain here?

A wise person seeks help from Allah, pulls himself out of this vortex, and moves forward striving and persevering.
By Allah, tell me: how long have you been in this relationship, and what has it brought you except the exhaustion of your energy and life, and the wasting of your time without effort or purpose?”

“If I were ever to find my daughter—may Allah protect her and the daughters of Muslims from the evils of forbidden relationships—talking secretly with a young man, even if he has good character and religion, I would not ask her to inform him so he could come to propose, because he is not the right man for her.

A righteous man does not accept speaking with a girl in secret from her family, nor does he engage in a relationship that angers Allah, nor does he begin his love with sin expecting it to end in happiness.

True love is not born from secret correspondence or words exchanged in the dark. It is born in the light, under the shade of Allah’s pleasure, and within the boundaries of His Sharia. Whoever truly wants her and is sincere must knock on her father’s door—not come through a window. Whoever seeks the lawful path—just as the first step is made rightly, the rest of the path is guided by Allah.

The girl who guards herself out of fear of Allah, lowers her gaze, and is modest before her Lord before anyone else is the one whose worth is elevated and whose heart is preserved.

As for those secret relationships, no matter how they are dressed in the guise of ‘sincere intentions,’ they will only end in disappointment, regret, and sorrow—because what is built on falsehood cannot endure under Allah’s guidance.”

“Behold that man whom time has worn down—his hands wrinkled, his hair grayed, his back bent—who rises after the Fajr prayer to toil, strive, and work to earn a living that preserves the dignity of his daughters and sons, shields them from the humiliation of asking, and protects their faces from the shame of need.

Yet sometimes he is met with ingratitude that wounds his heart, when his daughters or sons stray into forbidden relationships—betraying his effort, nullifying his upbringing, and trampling on the tears of the years he shed for them.
What greater betrayal is there than for a child to sell their honor for disgrace, breaking the back of their father and mother before they themselves are broken?

My sons and daughters: do not betray Allah first, and do not betray your parents who spent their lives raising you. Every step toward sin is a door to shame that does not fade, wounds that never heal, and a dark destiny unworthy of you. If you seek blessing, guard your hearts against betrayal, your eyes from forbidden things, and your paths from evil.”
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
We have crossed the middle of Ramadan.
More than fifteen days of this blessed month have already passed, never to return again.
Time does not wait.
It does not wait for motivation.
It does not wait for the “right moment.”
It does not wait for us to feel ready.
Ibn al-Jawzi once wrote to his son that every hour is made of breaths, and every breath is a treasure chest.
Think about it:
A single breath can carry dhikr.
A single moment can carry reward.
The Prophet ﷺ told us that whoever says:
“Subhan Allah al-Adheem wa bihamdih”
a date palm tree is planted for him in Jannah.
One phrase.
A few seconds.
A tree in Paradise.
So what does that make a wasted hour?
A wasted morning?
A wasted day?
Some of the Salaf would complete the Qur’an three times in a single day and night.
Others would spend the entire night in prayer, then wake themselves after a short nap, reminding themselves:
“The sleep in the grave will be long.”
And us?
Ramadan is still here.
A few days remain.
But those days are precious.
If you feel you have not done enough, then know that the door is still open.
And if you feel you have done much, then this is not the moment to slow down.
Because the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Indeed, actions are judged by their endings.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6493)

"O' you who has wasted the years of his life, amend those lost and wasted years in the night of al-Qadr (decree), for verily it is equivalent to that of a lifetime."

The central supplication for the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr) mentioned in the traditions is asking Allah for forgiveness and well-being. Those who perform righteous deeds are in need of well-being so that their actions become easy for them, and they are in need of forgiveness after completing them so that their Lord may accept them and overlook their shortcomings. By His grace and mercy they were able to act, and thus their deeds—from beginning to end—are surrounded by asking Him for these two things.

This Ramadan, do not forget to ask Allah for every form of khair (goodness). 🤍

Remember the beautiful duʿā’ of Prophet Mūsā (peace be upon him):

Rabbi innī limā anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqīr. “My Lord, truly I am in need of whatever good You send down to me.” (Qur’an 28:24)

Ask Allah for all that is good—known and unknown, in this life and the next.

May Allah accept our duʿā’, forgive our shortcomings, and fill our hearts with His mercy this blessed Ramadan. 🌙

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

”If the Night of Qadr was some night during the entire year, I’d stand in night prayer the entire year to get it. So what do you suppose should be done for merely ten nights?.”

Ibn al-Qayyim reported:

"On that night, every precise matter is made distinct" (Quran 44:4)

The decrees for the entire year are inscribed on Laylat al-Qadr. Everything that will happen in the coming year relating to sustenance, marriage, and rainfall, down to the names of the pilgrims. Even life and death - You may see a man strolling through shops, unaware that his name has already been inscribed among the dead.

Bada'i' al-Tafsir - Tafsir Ibn al-Qayyim (Qur'an 44:4)

Marriage, wealth, health, Hajj, death, food, clothing - everything.

On Laylat al-Qadr, the decrees for the coming year are transferred from al-Lawh al-Mahfooz.

"A man once asked al-Hasan while I was listening,

"Is Laylat al-Qadr in every Ramadan?"

He replied,

'Yes, by Allah, besides whom there is no god, it is in every Ramadan. On Laylat al-Qadr, every wise matter is decreed. Allah determines every lifespan, deed, and provision until the next Laylat al-Qadr.'"
