The Day of Ashura: A small amount of effort for a huge reward of forgiveness. ✨
« يوم عاشوراء تذكير بالفرج بعد الشدة،
واليسر بعد العسر، والنصر بعد أن بلغت القلوب الحناجر، وظن الناس بالله الظنون . »
The Day of Ashura is a reminder of relief after hardship, ease after difficulty, and victory after hearts had reached their throats and people had started to assume the worst about Allah.

Who are those whose hearts are humbled/ Al Mukhbiteen?
Al-Kalbī said: “So their hearts humble themselves (tukhbit) to Him,” meaning: their hearts become tender and receptive to the Qur’an.
Allah, Exalted is He, has clarified the reality of khushūʿ (humility) and described the humble (mukhbitīn) in His saying:
{ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُخْبِتِينَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَالصَّبِرِينَ عَلَى مَا أَصَابَهُمْ وَالْمُقِيمِي الصَّلَاةِ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ﴾
“And give glad tidings to the humble — those whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned, who are patient over whatever befalls them, who establish the prayer, and who spend from what We have provided them.”
He thus mentioned four qualities of the humble:
والوجل : خوف مقرون بهيبة ومحبة،
Their hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned — and this trembling (wajl) is a fear mixed with awe and love.
Their patience with Allah’s decrees.
Their proper establishment of prayer — upholding both its outward and inward pillars.
Their kindness to Allah’s creation — by spending from what He has given them. And this [state] is only attainable by a heart that is truly humble (mukhbit).
Ibn ʿAbbās said: “The humble (al-mukhbitīn) are the humble and modest ones.”
Mujāhid said: “Those who are at peace with Allah.”
Al-Akhfash said: “Those who are submissive.”
Ibn Jarīr said: “Those who are obedient and yielding.”

Rest asured:
There are no disappointments in prayers.
Either it is answered, or harm is repelled, or a reward is reserved.

One of the early pious predecessors said:
"عجبًا لمن يتقي حرَّ صيف الدنيا، كيف لا يتقي باجتناب الذنوب والمعاصي حرَّ جهنم."
"How strange it is that someone protects themselves from the heat of the worldly summer, yet does not protect themselves from the heat of Hell by avoiding sins and disobedience."

"ما ذُكرَ الله على صَعبٍ إلَّا هَان، ولا على مَشَقَّةٍ إلَّا خَفَّت، ولا على شِدَّةٍ إلَّا زَالَت، ولا كُربَةٍ إلَّا انفَرَجَت."
"The remembrance of Allah makes every hardship easy, every difficulty lighter, every distress disappear, and every worry relieved."
The Month of Allah, Al-Muharram
The Second Group: A group that has taken ‘Ashura as a day of mourning, grief, and lamentation due to the killing of Al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali. They display symbols of the pre-Islamic era of ignorance, such as striking the cheeks, tearing the clothes, and reciting poems of sorrow.
It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"He is not one of us who strikes the cheeks, tears the clothes, and calls with the calls of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era of ignorance)."
Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim
And it was narrated from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"There are two practices among the people that are acts of disbelief: attacking lineage and wailing over the dead."
Narrated by Muslim
Imam al-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
"These are among the actions of the disbelievers and the morals of the Jahiliyyah."

On the day of Ashura
Musa عليه السلام arrived at the sea
There was no escape
The sea was in front of him.
And Firawn was behind him...
And the children of Israel said to him: "Indeed, we are overtaken",
but he answered them with the answer of one who trusts in his Lord:
"No, indeed, with me is my Lord. He will guide me."
"O Allah, grant us certainty in you like the certainty of Musa Alayhi Salam, belief in your promise like the belief of Musa, and trust in You like the trust of Musa."

The eternal significance of Ashura lies in it being a day among the Days of Allah,
when Allah granted victory to the truth and destroyed falsehood.
The hearts of believers (on this day) recall Allah's support and triumph,
and that He inflicts His punishment and wrath upon the disbelievers.
They express gratitude to Him and fulfill His rights.

He said, “No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.”
[Surah Ash-Shu‘ara, 26:62]
Those who trust (in Allah) — whenever the grip of affliction tightens around them, the doors of hope open before them. So they become certain that relief is near and that a way out is close!
When the Qur'an reaches the heart, it doesn't just enter it overwhelms.
This is not just recitation... it's the soul remembering its origin.

“He is not one of us who does not Beautify his voice (with) the Qur’an."
Meaning :
The phrase “يتغنّى بالقرآن” has been interpreted by scholars in different ways. The most well-known opinions include:
He beautifies his voice when reciting the Qur’an:
Meaning, he recites it with a beautiful voice and proper melody. This is the most widely accepted interpretation.
He finds sufficiency in it:
That is, he treats the Qur’an as sufficient for him and doesn’t turn to music or other forms of entertainment.
He finds pleasure and spiritual ecstasy in it:
Meaning, he enjoys the Qur’an and his heart is moved by it — similar to how some people are emotionally moved by music.
The Prophet ﷺ encourages believers to beautify their voices when reciting the Qur’an, because doing so affects the hearts and increases reverence and humility.
This does not mean imitating forbidden musical styles. Rather, it means reciting the Qur’an with proper tajwīd, rhythm, and emotional presence, as is fitting for the words of Allah.

The cure of Hearts.
One of the means of purifying the heart, being affected by the Qur'an, and truly benefiting from it is:
Listening to a reciter whose voice you love, with the intention of receiving the Qur'an and being guided by it.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked Ibn Mas‘ud to recite to him, saying:
"I love to hear it from someone else."
So Ibn Mas‘ud recited from Surah An-Nisa, until the Prophet’s ﷺ eyes were filled with tears.
The Prophet ﷺ was amazed by the recitation of Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari and praised him saying:
"You have been given a flute (voice) from the flutes of the family of Dawud (David)."
And he rejoiced at the recitation of Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah, saying:
"Praise be to Allah who made someone like him in my Ummah."
A suggested way to receive and be guided by the Qur’an:
Play a Qur’an recitation by a reciter whose voice moves your heart,
while keeping your phone away, or muting its notifications.
Then make intention to listen with four specific goals:
To seek guidance from the Qur’an
(Focus your mind and heart on what you're hearing in order to reflect and be guided.)
To purify your heart
For nothing is better for the heart than reflecting on the Qur'an, as Ibn al-Qayyim said.
To expose yourself to the mercy of Allah
As Allah says:
"So when the Qur’an is recited, listen to it and remain silent that you may receive mercy." (Al-A‘raf 204)
To follow the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ
who asked to hear the Qur’an from Ibn Mas‘ud
From the signs of Allah’s tawfiq (divine success) is that you set aside time in your schedule—especially in sacred seasons like the Ashhur al-Hurum (sacred months)—to listen to the Qur’an with the intention of receiving and being guided by it.
You will be amazed by the divine breezes, and the Qur’an will touch your heart,
acting like medicine reaching the very source of the pain.
