“They (sahaba) used to exalt three sets of ten days:
the last ten of Ramaḍān, the first ten of Dhul-Ḥijjah and the first ten of al-Muḥarram.”

In the Ten Days there are virtuous actions and many acts of obedience, including:
1- Increasing in voluntary ṣalāh before and after the obligatory ṣalāh, charity, and the remaining righteous deeds such as righteousness towards the parents, connecting family ties, sincere repentance, commanding good, forbidding evil and others.

2- Increasing in the remembrance of Allāh, the Most High, magnifying Him and reciting His Book.

3- Fasting, for fasting the (first) nine days of Dhul-Ḥijjah – even if there is no evidence to establish it specifically – is from the righteous actions which the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم encouraged us

4- Al-Ḥajj and ‘Umrah, and they are from the best of actions as will come, if Allāh wills.

5- Striving to sacrifice and not being neglectful regarding it due to the tremendousness of the reward with Allāh, the Most High.

"Be someone who tries their best (to improve) for even if you don't reach your best,

it'll suffice you (to know) that Allāh loves those who try their best [i.e. the muhsinīn]."

"The believer who is satisfied with what Allah has written for him is happy in every way...

If what he wished for came to him one day, he would be happy and delighted with it, and if it does not come to him, he would know that this matter did not belong to him from the beginning, and that the best thing would be for him is to abandon it. So his heart is at ease and he goes away with the peace of mind."
"from the effects of sins upon a servant is that his matters are made difficult for him, a person doesn't face a matter except that he finds it closed upon him or hard for him."

Strive to fast these first 9 days of Dhu'l-Hijjah. If you can't, be grateful while you eat and thank Allah when eating and drinking so that you gain Allah's pleasure and have the reward of a faster. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "A grateful eater will have a reward like that of a patient faster."

With the passing of every minute, feel that you are in the best of the days of the world, in the great days in the sight of Allah and it's rewards would be multiplied in the scale of your deeds, even if you are in the midst of your preoccupation do not be neglectful of rememberance for it is from the easiest, the quickest and the most benefiting ways of seeking nearness to Allah specially in these blessed days, By Allah no one has any excuse for it.
Sheikh Muhammad Al-Mukhtar Al-Shanqeeti رحمه الله was asked:

Some days pass by and I don't read anything from the Quran. Is this considered abandoning the Quran?

This is considered deprivation (حرمان) and what deprivation that is.

If you find yourself passing days without reciting anything from the Book of Allah, then weep for yourself.

“These hearts are containers, so occupy them with the Quran and do not occupy them with anything else.”
