The answer depends on the kind of compiler you are using

The above compiler is a standard GCC compiler installed on Mac

You are right. The answer could be 12 or 11 too. I have tried it on multiple compilers and have got varying results. And that is one of the reason to avoid such kind of usage of increment/decrement operators. A good compiler like the standard GCC Will give us a warning about wrong usage of such operators. DevC++ is not wrong as the behaviour of increment/decrement operators is not exactly defined by language standards. Such behaviour is called as undefined behaviour. The code and result of the code run using standard GCC have been shared here above.

He fought hard to come back and do what he loved to do the most - Teach his students. But his hard luck did not let go of him.
