The mahi-mahi or common dolphinfish is a surface-dwelling ray-finned fish.

The name mahi-mahi comes from the Hawaiian language and means "very strong", through the process of reduplication. However in Māori, a sister language of Hawaiian, "mahimahi" almost exclusively refers to the verb meaning to have sex. By chance in Persian, mahi (ماهی) means fish, but the word mahi in Hawaiian has nothing to do with the Persian language.

Sitting at my desk now, I try to see if the nail polish is still working or not. It seems to have some flow left in it. I open it, the familiar smell of the chemical fills my nose, as I do the first stroke on my left middle finger, the one I scratched with a needle.
Then it hit me. I'm almost 24, and this is the first time I'm wearing black nail polish. It hit me again. My ex boyfriend wore black nail polish sooner than I ever did.
Mom says black nail polish is what sluts wear. I can't wait to hear her shout it at me when she sees this. "Sluts sure do have great taste." I think to myself, as I stroke the rest of my fingernails with the black goop.
