Steamed Kek Lumut Recipe (8x8 inch pan)
Ingredient A (to beat):
β’ 250g butter (Anchor/SCS for extra richness)
β’ 100g caster sugar
β’ 1 tsp vanilla essence
Ingredient B (eggs):
β’ 5 eggs
(Lightly beat and add gradually to the mixture)
Ingredient C (dry ingredients):
β’ 100g sweetened condensed milk
β’ 70g Horlicks powder
β’ 1 cup all-purpose flour (sifted)
β’ 1 tsp baking powder
β’ Β½ tsp baking soda
β’ 1 tbsp coconut milk powder (optional, for extra richness)
Ingredient D (colour & aroma):
β’ Green food colouring (adjust for mossy look)
β’ A few drops of pandan essence (optional, for fragrance)

Instructions:
1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla essence.
2. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
3. Pour in the condensed milk and continue beating.
4. Gradually fold in all the dry ingredients (sifted beforehand).
5. Add the green colouring and pandan essence.
6. Mix gently until well combined β donβt overmix!
7. Pour batter into a baking paper-lined pan and smooth the top.
8. Steam for 1 to 1.5 hours (depending on cake thickness).
β’ Tip: Wrap the steamer lid with a clean cloth to avoid water droplets dripping onto the cake.
9. Let the cake cool completely before slicing.
β’ Best served chilled β refrigerate it for a few hours for extra firmness and taste!
