Today's Session Of #nowyouknowwithena : Writing An Email !
Fun fact - This part is the easiest part to score full marks. So, attention please !
1. Greeting
Start with a friendly tone:
• Hi [Name]
• Hello [Name]
• Dear [Name]
2. Opening Paragraph
Thank your friend and introduce the topic:
• Thanks for your email. It was great to hear from you!
• I’m really excited to share my thoughts on [topic].
• You asked about [topic], and here’s what I think.
3. Paragraph 2: First Point / Answer
Give your first idea or response:
• To begin with, I think [your answer].
• One reason is that [give a reason or example].
• I’ve tried it before, and it was [your experience].
4. Paragraph 3: Second Point / Extra Detail
Continue with more explanation or another point:
• Besides that, [your second idea or advice].
• Another thing I want to share is [your point].
• It really helps because [brief explanation].
5. Paragraph 4: Suggestion / Personal Opinion
Add encouragement, suggestion or personal response:
• If I were you, I would [suggestion].
• In my opinion, it’s a great way to [reason].
• I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!
6. Closing Paragraph
Wrap up your email nicely:
• That’s all for now.
• Hope to hear from you soon!
• Let me know what you think.
• Take care and stay safe!
7. Sign-off
Use a casual, friendly closing:
• Best wishes,
• Bye for now,
• Your friend,[Your Name]
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Extras ++
How To Improve CA and O ( since most of you are confused on why your marks got deducted on that part ) !
1. Communicative Achievement
☆ Match the tone and style
• Use an informal or semi-formal tone (since you're writing to a friend or peer).
• Avoid being too formal (no "Dear Sir/Madam") and too casual ("Yo", "LOL" etc.).
• Use contractions (e.g. I’m, we’ll, can’t) to sound natural.
☆ Fulfill the task fully
• Always answer all parts of the question or prompts given.
• Respond to your friend’s message naturally, just like a real reply.
☆ Engage the reader
• Ask questions back: e.g. “Have you ever tried this?”
• Show enthusiasm: “I’m really looking forward to it!”
☆ Use varied expressions
• Instead of repeating “I like,” try “I enjoy,” “I’m into,” “I’m a big fan of”.
2. Organisation
☆ Use paragraphs clearly
• Structure your email into at least 3–4 paragraphs:
Opening – Greeting and reference to their email
Body – Answer all points/questions
Closing – Friendly wrap-up or follow-up question
Sign-off – See you soon / Take care / Bye for now
☆ Use linking words and connectors
• To sequence ideas: Firstly, Then, After that, Finally
• To add points: Also, Besides, What’s more
• To contrast: But, However, On the other hand
☆ Start and end naturally
• Start: Hi [Name], Thanks for your email!
• End: That’s all for now. Hope to hear from you soon!
☆ Avoid one big block of text
• Make sure each paragraph has 2–4 sentences. White space makes it readable.
