Want to share a bit about Urinary catheter (Continuous Bladder Drainage aka CBD)
Benda ni selalu u guys will encounter during case presentation/ masa nak buat PE and some drs/ lecturer will ask questions πββοΈπββοΈ
π I share very simple oneeοΏΌ
Indication: Acute urinary retention
Causes of AUR
1. BPH: tx Alpha blocker and 5a reductase
2. Stricture
3. Bladder stone-
4. Neurogenic bladder- use SIC (silicone type) sbb tahan lama
Contraindications: Urether injury
Duration:
- Max 2 weeks (PVC type which is common
- Up to 1 month for Silicone/ rubber
* Silicone hard so can self insert
* Usually used in neurogenic bladder
Type
- Triple lumen- irrigation in gross hematuria to prevent cbd obstruction
- 2 lumen drainage onlyοΏΌ

2. Paediatric
- 4-7 Years old: Wong baker FACES pain rating
- 1 Month- 4 Years old: FLACC (Face, Leg, Activity, Cry, Consolability)

*Crackles=Crepitation
1. Breath sound (Vesicular/Bronchial/Tracheal), 2. 2. Air entry bilaterally (equal or unequal- which side reduced
3. Added sound π
E.g: Vesicular breath sound heard with equal air entry bilaterally. Fine crepitation heard up to mid zone bilaterally, more on the right side.
