Want to share a bit about Urinary catheter (Continuous Bladder Drainage aka CBD)
Benda ni selalu u guys will encounter during case presentation/ masa nak buat PE and some drs/ lecturer will ask questions 💆‍♀️💆‍♀️
👇 I share very simple onee

Indication: Acute urinary retention
Causes of AUR
1. BPH: tx Alpha blocker and 5a reductase
2. Stricture
3. Bladder stone-
4. Neurogenic bladder- use SIC (silicone type) sbb tahan lama

Contraindications: Urether injury

Duration:
- Max 2 weeks (PVC type which is common
- Up to 1 month for Silicone/ rubber
* Silicone hard so can self insert
* Usually used in neurogenic bladder

Type
- Triple lumen- irrigation in gross hematuria to prevent cbd obstruction
- 2 lumen drainage only
