🌿 commonest sites are the fast-growing ends of long bones and the crest of the ilium.
🌿 pathognomonic. There is a well-defined exostosis emerging from the metaphysis.
🌿 Multiple lesions may develop as part of a heritable disorder–
hereditary multiple exostosis
💕 Treatment: indications for excision are:
1. Symptomatic.
2. Sudden enlargement in adult.
3. Features of malignant transformation:
(a) enlargement of the cartilage cap in successive examinations;
(b) a bulky cartilage cap (more than 1 cm in thickness);
(c) irregularly scattered flecks of calcification within the cartilage cap; and
(d) spread into the surrounding soft tissues.
