-- replaced the National Agricultural insurance Scheme(NAIS)
-- Restructured weather based crop insurance scheme --- still continued
-- Coverage of crops --- Food Crpos(cereals, millets,pulses), oilseeds, horticulture crops,
-- Rate of premium paid by farmers --- 2% for kharif, 1.5% for Rabi, 5% for horticultural crops(Both annual and perennial)
-- Central Subsidy -
(Restructured in 2020 ....Initialy 50:50)
- 50% for unirrigated areas
- 25% for irrigated areas
- 90% for north eastern states
-- Special efforts ---- maximum coverage of SC/ST/Women farmers
-- Allocation of business to insurance companies for 3 yearrs
-- Cutoff dates for premium for Kharif and Rabi seasons will be 31st March and 30th September
-- States have been allowed to set up their insurance companies
-- Mandatory capturing of Aadhaar
-- Basic Cover ---- cover yield losses (Sowing to Harvest) - area based approach

-- Financial assistance - Rs. 18 lakh per FPO for a period of 3 years

-- Credit guarantee facility -- upto Rs 2 Cr of project loan per FPO
-- Credit guarantee funds(CGF) --- maintained by NABARD + NCDC(National Cooperative Development Corporation)
-- Atleast 15% FPOs in aspiration district ------ atleast 1 FPO in each block of these district
-- minimum member in FPO -- 300(Plain area) & 100(NE and hilly area)
