Coffee in India

* India is the 5th largest export and producer in the coffee in the world and is emerging as the major
coffee consuming country.

* Brazil is the top coffee producing country in the world.

* Bengaluru is the coffee capital of India and produces nearly 70% of India’s coffee.

* Arabica and Robusta are the two main varieties of coffee cultivating in India.

CONDITION REQUIRED FOR GROWTH
Coffee plant requires hot and humid climate with temperature varying between 15°C and 28 °C and rainfall from 150 to 250 cm.

Coffee is generally grown under shady trees and dry weather iscrucial only at the time of ripening of the berries.
New Space India Limited

The establishment of NSIL was announced in Budget 2019.

One of the mandates of NSIL is to mass-produce and manufacture the SSLV and the more powerful PSLV in partnership with the private sector in India through technology transfers.

Its aim is to use research and development carried out by ISRO over the years for commercial purposes through Indian industry partners.

It differs from ISRO’s existing commercial arm Antrix Corporation:

Antrix will handle ISRO’s commercial deals for satellites and launch vehicles with foreign customers.

NSIL will deal with capacity building of local industry for space manufacturing.

State of Environment Report,2021

Released by: It is an annual report published by the Centre for Science and Environment(CSE) along with Down To Earth.

Purpose: It is India’s most credible and complete annual survey of India's environment as it covers aspects such as forests, wildlife, agriculture, rural development, water and sanitation and climate change.
Waste to Wealth Mission

Launched by: Prime Minister’s Science Technology and Innovation Advisory Council(PMSTIAC)

● This mission is the the scientific arm of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Aim: To identify, develop and deploy technologies to treat waste to generate energy, recycle materials, and extract resources of value.
Swachh Iconic Places(SIP) Initiative:

● It is an initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission(Grameen).

● The initiative is being coordinated by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture and the concerned State/UT governments.

● The initiative aims at enhancing the experience of both domestic and foreign visitors by improving the sanitation and cleanliness standards at and around the sites.

● It also aims to achieve a distinctly higher level of Sanitation/Cleanliness at these places.

● All Iconic Sites have designated PSUs for financial and technical support.

Why in News? Ministry of Jal Shakti has announced 12 iconic sites which will be covered under Phase IV of the Swachh Iconic Places(SIP) Initiative.
Equalization Levy

●Introduced in India in 2016, with the intention of taxing the digital transactions i.e. the income accruing to foreign e-commerce companies from India.

●It is aimed at taxing business to business transactions.

●The following services are currently covered under the EL:
—Online advertisement;
—Any provision for digital advertising space or facilities/ service for the purpose of online advertisement;
Why do we celebrate National Science Day?

National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28 February 1928. For his discovery, Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
The theme for National Science Day 2021 is “Future of STI" .
