ABOUT ABIC 2024
The Agro-Business Ideas Competition (ABIC) 2024 is a flagship initiative of the Ethio-German Sustainable Training and Education Programme (STEP). It aims to foster entrepreneurship and innovation among polytechnic students in the agro-processing sector. ABIC provides a platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their business ideas and gain the opportunity to realize their entrepreneurial dream a reality and impact Ethiopia's agro-industrial development.
Here is What Awaits you at ABIC 2024
By participating in the pitch competition
• You will gain valuable entrepreneurial skills and knowledge through 5 days of entrepreneurship training + 1 day for a pitching competition. Enhance your understanding of business development, market analysis, financial planning, and more.
• Benefit from mentorship and guidance from experienced business and technical mentors during the Incubation Phase to refine strategies and build a solid business model.
• Access a technical lab to develop and test your prototype, supported by resources provided.
• Benefit from forging meaningful connections with a diverse community of like-minded individuals and industry experts.
• Gain national exposure for your business idea, including potential investors, industry leaders, and government representatives, gaining national exposure.
• You will have the opportunity to be one of the winners of our exclusive service offerings to kick-start your business to the next stage.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Applicants should have a business idea that solves the problems of companies in the agro-industrial sector. Business ideas demonstrating innovative solutions will be prioritized.
• Applicants must be graduating students for the Class Years 2017 E.C and 2018 E.C from Adama Science and Technology University. Graduating students of the year 2016 E.C will not be allowed to participate.
• Your business ideas should be clear, knowing who your potential customers will be and how you’ll generate revenue.
• Preference will be given to ideas with potential for positive social, economic, and environmental impact, aligning with sustainable development goals.
• Can fully attend the 6-day Training and pitching session.
• Can commit to Mentorship and Coaching support in the incubation phase of the project.
• Application in groups is highly encouraged.
• We support women’s engagement and therefore encourage women to apply.
