We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for SciFro 2025!

SciFro is an interdisciplinary science forum designed to empower young Africans to design and innovate medical and energy devices that solve real-world local challenges. Through hands-on workshops, lectures, and networking opportunities, SciFro fosters growth in engineering education, entrepreneurship, and scientific collaboration.

The 2025 SciFro ፍሬ Forum (ፍሬ or Fere means to bear fruit) will take place September 2–6 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (final location to be announced). SciFro is excited to collaborate with xHub Addis--one of Ethiopia's leading innovation incubation institutions. The forum brings together students passionate about science, technology, and innovation—especially those curious about how science can drive change across disciplines and communities.

As a selected participant, you’ll have the opportunity to attend lectures and workshops led by top scientists and engineers from institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and collaborate with peers to develop real-world problem-solving skills.
Eligibility:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in science, medicine, or engineering

Strong academic standing and demonstrated interest in science, medicine, technology, or innovation

Motivation to learn, collaborate, and engage actively throughout the forum

What We Provide:
Travel and Daily food per diem
