The Russian state is once again the guarantor of oppression throughout the region, backing dictatorships in Belarus and Kazakhstan by military force—treating Russian lives as expendable, too.

Against all wars—against all governments.

Ukrainian capitalists and politicians benefit from being able to deflect attention to the threat of Russia. But the only thing that could make war impossible would be revolutionary movements on both sides.

Against all governments.

In Russia, Ukraine, and the US, rulers who won't die in the trenches are preparing to throw away people's lives just to gain leverage in geopolitical competitions.

We should fight those who would make us die on their behalf, not each other.

"In response to the machinations of governments, we must identify and resist every effort to turn us against each other. We should build solidarity across national, ethnic, and religious lines while doing everything we can to topple authoritarian governments from Washington, DC to Moscow. Our hope is that revolutionary movements will break out on both sides of every border.

"Escalations in state violence are calculated to make this impossible—to substitute war for revolution. But in a world headed towards ever more diffuse wars, goaded on by nationalist strongmen, our best chance of survival is to build ties between combative social movements. Let us fight those who would make us die on their behalf, not each other."

Curious why new labor struggles haven't really taken off, despite the conditions being so ripe for them?

Last month, the graduate worker strike at Columbia University was the biggest strike in the US. But to make the strike possible, they first had to confront and overthrow the union bureaucracy from within:

Until recently, I did not want to comment on the threat of an attack by Putin's regime on Ukraine. Because this threat has come up several times in recent years and looks very much like trickery and blackmail. However, tensions and brouhaha have reached a climax and it would be strange to avoid the topic any further.

Let's be brief:

📌 What Putin is doing is pure aggressive imperialism, which aims to spread and strengthen the extremely authoritarian and reactionary influence of the current Russian authorities in space and time.

📌 To be a political actor, the anarchist movement must actively respond and determine its line in a possible conflict. The ostrich position under the mask of refusing to "take sides" will make anyone who takes it an outsider.

📌 The sphere of action for the Russian comrades is obvious: it is to rock the anti-war movement to the maximum, to fight aggression from the rear. Much more complex and ambiguous is the challenge for Ukraine's anarchists. Taking part in the resistance against the occupation is a good and useful thing. It is another moment of truth for anarchists to prove that they are a valid force for an actual social struggle.

While choosing forms of resistance, it is extremely important not to lose our independence and autonomy as an ethical group. It is not necessary to assimilate to the state discourse in Ukraine, neither ideologically nor structurally (obviously this state, with its cops, oligarchs, and corrupt politicians, is also an enemy for its own population).

The dilapidated nature of the Ukrainian state apparatus leaves a great deal of room for autonomous activities that are outside of the government's control.

Fight it - you will win! 🏴

"A pastor is leading the charge of reclaiming an abandoned school and creating a community-and-trades center on the east side of Indianapolis."

"With 40,000 square feet of space and dozens of rooms in the building, The Evolve Education Center is slated to be a technologically advanced facility with office space, conference rooms, a beauty and barbershop, a podcast room, music production space, a youth center, a senior space, HVAC and trades room, and a day care room. The center is also intending to offer trainings, resources, and more. Eighty five percent of the planned rooms came directly from community input."
