当你分割天上的和地上的，不承认帝国秩序是某种天上的秩序在地上的“投影”，participate in 它并不使人获得人之所以是人的属性时，也就是说认为人之所以是人完全来自它的某种就其本身而言的具备意志（而不是理性）的本质时，也就是说当你变成唯名论者或者温和实在论者时，也就是说你的法学从自然法变成规范法学时，也就是说你的神学从希腊-罗马式切换成犹太-基督教式时，自然会认为你家的餐具没有灵魂。你对人的概念已经变了。之前人是 participate in 神圣秩序的存在，餐具也可以在这个 mode of existence 里成为人，同样“文明世界”“帝国秩序”之外的野蛮人也可以根本不是人而是怪物（就跟古希腊人认为的那样）和魔鬼。
