What is ‘brinksmanship’?
Brinksmanship is the art of pushing policy or military/political maneuvering to the edge of war or “to the brink” of some other acute crisis without actually escalating to war or some other acute crisis in order to gain leverage or score other political/economic gains.

According to US-based ex spec ops advisers, Kiev loyal troops on the ground in Ukraine’s red zone don’t seem to think a Russian invasion would mean a much greater intensification of the 8 year border war and think this is probably more saber-rattling however they feel generally ready for an uptick in fighting if it does come.
