➣ Hyundai India has fixed its IPO price band of Rs 1,865 to Rs 1,960 per share. The IPO will be open for subscription from 15 Oct to 17 Oct.

➣ The RBI kept the repo rate unchanged at 6.5% for the 10th time in a row. It also kept the GDP growth forecast for FY25 unchanged at 7.2%.

➣ Garuda Construction IPO has been subscribed 4.10 times. Retail subscription: 6.73 times. Open for subscription till 10 Oct.

➣ Equity mutual fund investments fell 10% monthly to Rs 34,419.26 crore in Sept. Investment via SIPs rose 4.08% to an all-time high of Rs 24,508.73 crore. Total number of SIP accounts rose to 9.87 crore in Sept: AMFI.

➣ Inflation in the US fell to 2.4% in September (vs 2.5% in Aug). The core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, rose to 3.3% in September (vs 3.2% in Aug).

➣ Garuda Construction IPO was subscribed 7.55 times. Retail subscription: 10.81 times. It closed for subscription.

Leveraged Buyout

A Leveraged Buyout (LBO) happens when a company is purchased using a loan.

Let's take the case of company ABC, which wants to acquire a company called XYZ.

But ABC does not have enough money to do that. So, it takes a loan and acquires company XYZ.

This is an example of a 'leveraged buyout'.

In finance, 'leverage' refers to using loans.

Such buyouts are uncommon in India due to regulations.

In the past, some Indian companies have used leverage to acquire foreign companies.

Example: Tata Tea's buyout of Tetley in 2000.

Callable Bond

But what is a bond?

In the case of callable bonds, the borrower can repay the loan before the maturity date.

Callable bonds are also known as redeemable bonds.

These bonds give the borrower flexibility, allowing them to take advantage of changing market conditions.

An advantage of callable bonds is that — they often provide slightly higher interest rates than regular bonds as they favour the borrowers.

If the callable bond is paid off early, you’ll receive its full value plus the interest earned so far. You will also miss out on any future interest income.
