➣India’s trade deficit (net imports) increased by 22.50% year-on-year to a 10-month high of $29.65 billion in Aug. Exports fell 9.3% to $34.71 billion, while imports rose 3.3% to $64.36 billion: Commerce Ministry.
➣ India’s annual wholesale price inflation was 1.31% in Aug (down from 2.04% in July). Fuel & power inflation was negative in Aug at -0.67%. Manufacturing inflation was 1.22% and food inflation was 3.26%: DPIIT.
➣ Air India will invest $400 million to upgrade 67 of its old airplanes. It includes 27 narrow-body Airbus planes and 40 wide-body Boeing planes. The company has begun the process with one of its Airbus A320 Neo planes.
➣ Swiggy has launched ‘Project Next’ for upskilling their delivery partners. The initiative will train and recruit delivery partners for higher roles in the company, such as onboarding and managing more restaurants on the platform.

Example: when oil or gas companies earn more during times of high energy prices.
But, why pay extra tax?
The idea behind this is that these companies contribute more to society when they benefit from favorable market conditions.
It's a way for the government to "cash in" on a company’s unexpected financial gain.

The Fed raised rates in 1999 to cool down the economy, which contributed to the bubble bursting. Then, the Fed cut rates to stabilize the markets.
In 2008, it was housing debt that triggered the financial crisis. Years of low rates led to massive borrowing in the housing market, especially in risky subprime mortgages. When that bubble burst, the Fed slashed rates aggressively to prevent an economic collapse.
But today’s situation is different. US households and businesses aren’t carrying as much debt as they were during those past cycles. Household debt, especially mortgage debt, is more manageable, and businesses aren’t as highly leveraged as they were in 2000. That’s why this cycle feels unique. Even if the Fed cuts rates today, we’re not facing the same financial issues as before.
