Word of the Day
Stagflation
Stagflation is when an economy faces 3 problems simultaneously: inflation, slow growth, and high unemployment.
Solving this is difficult because dealing with one of these problems may make the other two worse.
For example: to reduce inflation, interest rates are usually increased.
However, doing this may reduce inflation but may simultaneously cause slow economic growth and higher unemployment.

Reverse Stock Split
Reverse stock split is when a company reduces the total number of its shares by merging them.
For example: let's say you have 200 shares of a company ABC.
And the company announces a 1 for 10 reverse stock split.
Then, after the reverse stock split, you will have 20 shares in total — 10 shares were merged into 1 share.
Theoretically, nothing changes. The company's revenues and profits are the same.
While the price per share may change, the total value of all your shares should be the same.
So, in the above example, if the share price was Rs 25 before the reverse stock split, it should become Rs 250 after the reverse stock split.
In practice, this is not the case — the price may be higher or lower than the theoretical price after the reverse stock split (because of market dynamics).
