❔Did you know that: reference ranges are manipulated

Surely you have always looked at the reference ranges of the bloodwork to interpret your results, and according to those ranges you conclude if you are healthy or sick, but these ranges are not always accurate .

πŸ‘¨πŸΌβ€πŸ”¬Data

❗️Years ago the reference ranges for testosterone levels were much higher πŸ“ˆ, most levels within the range today would be considered low levels in the past.

❗️The reference ranges of cholesterol were modified prior to the sale of statins in the market πŸ’° to justify their use.

❗️Thyroid function is incorrectly measured ❌ (doctors only ask for two values of the minimum three that should be used just to have a general idea) and many patients are diagnosed with false hypothyroidism πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ.

β€‹β€‹πŸ”–Bloodwork tip: measuring E2

There are different methods to measure Estradiol levels, most of them were designed for women and in men they tend to give completely wrong results, today I am going to mention which methods will give wrong results and which ones will not.

πŸ‘ŽπŸ»Unsuitable methods.

❌Radioimmunoassay ❌Chemiluminescence ❌Immunoenzymatic assay ❌Immunoradiometric

πŸ‘¨πŸΌβ€πŸ”¬All of these methods would give erroneous or very inaccurate results.

πŸ‘ŒπŸ»Correct method

βœ”οΈUltrasensitive estradiol, measured by LC-MS / MS method.

πŸ‘¨πŸΌβ€πŸ”¬This method would give a completely correct estradiol measurement.

β€‹β€‹πŸ”– Pro tip: how many times should I have bloodwork done when cycling?

We all know that most common steroid cycles last 8-12 weeks. But how many times should I have bloodwork done when cycling?

Answer is simple: Usually 3️⃣…

πŸ”Ž 1st - Should be done before your cycle starts. We do it to assess a baseline of what our hormone and general health markers normally look like so we can compare later on.

βœ… 2nd – 3 to 4 weeks into your cycle. This bloodwork will show you if your testosterone is legit, assuming you use it as base. Also, it will help you adjust your AI dosage and prevent estradiol related sides. You may also compare health markers like lipids, liver and kidney function with your baseline numbers.

❕3rd – Around 2 months after your PCT is finished. This should be compared with your first bloodwork. Your HPTA related tests, like FSH, LH and total testosterone will help you understand if you have fully recovered your natural production. Just like you can compare your health markers with your baseline and have a better understanding of how the cycle affected your health.

πŸ”Ž An Incredible Fat-Loss and Anti-Aging Tool - Metformin (Glucophage) 101

Metformin is a very popular medication used to treat type 2 diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome. Now, before you think this is definitely not for you, keep reading because this has a ton of applications in a bodybuilding and anti-aging context!

Metformin lowers blood glucose levels. This means that it can improve insulin sensitivity and aid in losing fat while also improving muscle building and nutrient partitioning.

Besides that it can also lower cholesterol and improve erectile function, two things that any bodybuilder on SARMs or AAS will appreciate. Finally, it has also been shown to contribute to longevity as well as fight certain kinds of cancer.

All in all, a great drug with tons of health benefits that can help just about anyone, including athletes.

But what about the side-effects? Well, the reality is that when used responsibly it is extremely safe. Hypoglycemia is a risk if combined with other blood glucose-lowering medications, but it can be solved by ingesting carbs.

There is also data showing that it may inhibit mTOR, which is linked to muscle growth. However, in the real world Metformin does not appear to limit muscle growth in any significant way. Quite the opposite, in fact.

The normal Metformin dose when bulking up is 1000mg/day, taken twice a day (morning and night). If you are cutting, opt for 250mg twice a day for a total of 500mg/day instead. Always try to take it before eating carbs.

🩸Why every bodybuilder must own a glucometer

A glucometer is a small medical device that measures the concentration of glucose in your blood.

Chances are you’ve seen someone in your family use it, because it’s a must-have for diabetics (and let’s face it, we all have a diabetic person in our extended family).

☝🏻 Testosterone Replacement Therapy – Is it time for it?

Typically starting at about the age of 30, a man’s testosterone levels drop by about 10% every decade. Together with that, sex binding hormone globulin (SHBG) levels start to increase, β€œtrapping” much of the circulating testosterone and making it effectively unavailable to exert its expected effects on the body. The resulting difference between the total testosterone and the bound, unavailable is what we call free or β€œbioavailable” testosterone and, more importantly than the total levels of the hormone, plays a major role in the health, drive, quality of life and performance of an individual.

πŸ”” Why every bodybuilder must own a blood pressure monitor

We all know what a blood pressure monitor is. Those cuffs that wrap around the arm and inflate and deflate to tell us what our blood pressure is.

In my opinion, every enhanced bodybuilder should have one on hand and use it regularly on-cycle to keep track of blood pressure fluctuations (which we all know can occur due to AAS use).

☝🏻HCG vs HMG to restore fertility after years of AAS use

When it comes to preserving testicular function, testicular size and fertility during a cycle (or during TRT), HCG is always the first peptide hormone to be suggested.

Its usefulness is unquestionable because the vast majority of men who implement it are able to prevent/reverse testicular atrophy and a reduction in spermatogenesis, but there are situations in which HCG is simply not strong enough.

☝🏻Triptorelin: The β€œOne-Shot” PCT

Triptorelin is a peptide hormone that acts as an analog of GnRH (Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone). GnRH is a naturally occurring hormone produced in the hypothalamus which triggers the production of LH (Luteinizing Hormone) and FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone), which stimulate Testosterone production and spermatogenesis, respectively.

The way Triptorelin works is really simple: It replaces our naturally occurring GnRH production and stimulates the production of LH and FSH. This can be great if a low dose is used but can be devastating when overdosed.

☝🏻A look into the free testosterone to estradiol ratio

Right off the bat, I can tell you that the optimal proportion between free testosterone and estradiol is a topic of much discussion and debate in the fitness community, with no clear consensus. While testosterone is commonly associated with benefits such as muscle building and increased performance, estradiol at first glance is linked to feminine characteristics such as water retention and fat accumulation, but can also play an important role in maintaining a healthy hormonal balance and optimizing muscle growth.

πŸ“‹ C-reactive protein (CRP): The silent killer

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a substance produced by the liver in response to inflammation in the body. CRP is a type of acute phase protein, which means that its production is rapidly increased in response to tissue injury, infection, or inflammation. CRP is often used as a biomarker to monitor disease activity, assess the effectiveness of treatment, and predict the risk of cardiovascular disease.

πŸ’Š Metformin: a bodybuilding tool?

Metformin is a popular medication that is commonly prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes and polycistic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). It is derived from galegine, a compound found in a plant known as Galega Officinalis.

This drug works by inhibiting glucose production in the liver and inhibiting the actions of glucagon, a hormone that causes an increase in blood glucose levels.

These properties make Metformin a useful tool for bodybuilders, who can use it to improve their health, lose weight and even extend their lifespan while mitigating the side-effects of many PEDs.

😎 Make your PCT or cruise more fun

One of the things people fear the most when doing Post-Cycle Therapy or cruising is losing their gains. This is not really an issue if a solid PCT or Cruising protocol is followed, but some people still want to go the extra way to ensure they keep every single gram of lean muscle they gained during the cycle/blast.

While it's certainly not possible to keep absolutely everything gained during a cycle if you are already way past your natural limit and you do a crazy cycle that makes you even bigger, here are some things you can add to your PCT or cruise to keep it interesting, fun and anabolic.
