Let's look at the difference between the words "ты(ty)" and "вы(vy)" in the Russian language. In English, both of these words are translated as "you"🫤
We use "ты" to address:
- family members
- children, including those we don't know
- friends
- close acquaintances
- people with whom we have agreed to use "ты"
We use "вы" to address:
- strangers
- people we are not very familiar with
- people significantly older than us
- teachers
- colleagues
It is also important to note that "вы" can be used in the context of "you all"🤓
