Here is what I have not shared in the last post: ๐Ÿซฃ

Actually, I have had 1Fit subscription for 1 .5 years, but I was inconsistent. Getting on track was always so difficult. ๐Ÿฅฒ

Here is what I did differently this time to achieve consistency & results:

- Instead of waiting for results, I told myself to attend at least 10 classes in a month no matter what;
- I called late April & June โ€œthe month of sportsโ€, my main focus was on doing sports as much as possible;
- I started small: instead of starting with fitness workouts as I did before, I started with ice skating, then dance classes, then fitness mix, now attending more difficult shaping & fitness classes;
- Do smth you enjoy! I fell in love with figure-skating, I wanted to be better at it, which made me work on flexibility & stretches, which led to dance classes and fitness;
- Every time I get muscle pain, I feel accomplished. Before, it was just a pain, now, it is the proof that I am getting stronger. (Google it, your muscles form stronger after they are torn&stretched);
- Share your progress! You deserve that! And it spreads positivity. And maybe, someone else will start workout because of you!
- Most important: Do not miss twice. You may miss a class once, that happens, but make sure you never miss twice!
(This is not only about sports);
- Surround yourself with people who consistently do sports & work on themselves. I was lucky to be around such person who inspired me to do better;
- Have a sports buddy. Will you believe me if I tell you that my mom is better than me at fitness classes๐Ÿ˜

Donโ€™t be a tool

Every role, whether software engineer, carpenter, cleaner or astronaut is about generating outcomes that lead to profit. Your job is to help the company grow and make more money by generating valuable outcomes through your actions, which includes but is not limited to writing code.

When people discuss a product like an iPhone or a pen, they focus on how it solves their problems, not on its materials or origin. For developers, writing good code is important, but it must lead to the right outcomes, or else you'll be obsolete. If you're only writing code, you're essentially a tool like a hammer or pen - easily replaceable. To avoid being just a tool, you need to bring value beyond code.

Being a valuable professional means understanding the broader context of your work, including the companyโ€™s domain knowledge, customer success, sales, marketing, and engineering. This makes you a 10x developer - someone who significantly influences positive outcomes, uplifts others, and is deeply integrated into the company.

To grow in your career, whether as a staff engineer, manager, tech lead or CTO, you need more than technical skills. Companies like Google value professionals who can bring value beyond their technical tasks. Marty Kagan, in his book "Inspired," emphasizes that using programmers only for coding underutilizes their talents.

AI is advancing and can perform well-defined tasks efficiently. What AI lacks are critical problem-solving skills, logic, and the ability to communicate across an organization. Therefore, it's crucial to grow beyond frameworks and tools. Focus on outcomes, not just tasks. Tasks alone don't lead to results if they don't serve a greater purpose.

To ensure your role is indispensable, integrate yourself across all company units. Understand how valuable you are and how easily replaceable your role is. By doing so, you can aim for leadership positions and make significant contributions to your company. This advice is given with the best intentions to help you grow and succeed.

I disabled my instagram account.

The reason is simple: I could not share or get useful content from it.

Compound effect - the idea that small but consistent positive changes result in a big positive impact. Similarly, small negative choices lead to a big negative result.

Compound effect is always working. Either for you or against you.

No one stays the same. You either get better or get worse.

Humans have an innate desire for pleasureโ€”hedonismโ€”which drives us to seek out activities or experiences that provide immediate gratification over those that involve a delay of gratification, even if they have potential negative consequences.

We are designed to choose what is "more comfortable". So, taking an extra step to eat healthy, to move more, to study, to grow is, actually, going against our instincts.

Growth is a struggle, it is worth the struggle.
