They're called DEW's or "Directed Energy Weapons" causing intense heat enough to melt through rock and metal and cause fires. These are most likely from satellites or something at a similar height. A covert way to cause infrastructure damage or attack specific targets or cause a wide range of fires and damage. The same Secret military technology was seen being used in the California Fires where sidewalks and cars were melted to liquid but trees standing 8 feet or less away were untouched.
