Eyob Hope for Children and Youth (EHCY), a nonprofit charity organization based in California, USA, and established in the memory of the late Eyob Abebaw, has made second round donations to SPHMMC’s Cardiology Division.
The close to 5 million ETB worth donations mainly include Balloons and other consumables needed for performing Percutaneous Mitral Valvotomy (opening of a diseased narrowed mitral valve which commonly afflicts children and youth), and is expected to provide free treatment for close to 100 patients coming from all corners of Ethiopia.
The handover ceremony took place at St. Paul’s hospital in the presence of representatives of EHCY and our college’s administration.
The College’s administration and community would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to EHCY for the generous donations

The NS-HDSS is a health and demographic surveillance site located in the North Shewa Zone of the Amhara Region in Ethiopia. NS-HDSS is owned and administered by St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College, the largest teaching and medical institution in the nation. The HDSS site covers three geo-climatic zones the coldish and less than temperate (cold/ደጋ), the warm and wet (temperate/ወይናደጋ), and the drier and warmer hot/ቆላ). The NS-HDSS site includes 13 Kebeles in 119 enumeration areas and over 13,151 households to generate longitudinal information on vital events (birth, death, migration, and marital status changes).
NS-HDSS’s team comprises multi-disciplinary researchers and scientists, and connect you with fellow investigators and potential collaborators working on diverse health topics. This collaborative environment encourages knowledge sharing and fosters innovative research approaches.
