Almost all summer, I was training with two drones. Well, not two, actually. One of them was broken nearly all the time. After I fixed the first one, the second one broke and so on in turn.
It all ended with me missing the third Georgian racing stage because during a training the day before, Daniiel's drone and mine had crashed. And I didnβt have enough parts to assemble one working drone.
This is complete nonsense. It couldn't go on like this any longer, so I freaked out and bought all parts for three 5" drones and for 2 tiny whoops.
I'm going to use a strategy of three absolutely identical drones. I made up a three color scheme for that.
I'm going to use one of the drones for training (the black one). And this droneβs getting all old and almost broken parts.
The second one (green) will be a backup drone. And the third drone is only for competitions(red).
All that's left is to assemble it all.

Last Thursday, we took part in the Velocidrone competition. I flew through the qualification to the middle of the grid, found myself in a group with several strong pilots, and was sure that there was no chance so I would just fly without crashing.
I had to fly twice to get out of the group and be in the top three. As a result, I flew second in the first flight and was very surprised that this was possible. For some reason, the next time (although this was just a regular fun competition), I got nervous, could not clear my head, and crashed many times.
Daniil and Evgeny are in a better situation, they were able to get out of the group.
Daniil: It was fun, we raced well. I really liked the format, the qualification is not meaningless and gives you the opportunity to climb higher. At the same time, it guarantees you will not fall into some place below. There were some problems with the organization, but this was not critical during the warm-up stage. I will participate again)
Evgeny: I liked the track. I was a little upset that I was eliminated so early, it seems that if I hadn't screwed up I could have made it to the next group.

I use MacOS and .ts files on HDZero (to eliminate the problem with broken files).
But there are two problems:
1) If you format a flash card on glasses, it will not mount on macOS (maybe it's just only my problem)
2) It isn't convenient to work with .ts.
So, I made a script for import.
The necessary files from TS are converted to MPEG and end up in the command execution folder. Maybe someone will find it useful, too.

We have flown in the same conditions on the analog and HDZero AIO. But I will make a complete comparison on Thursday when I can add Walksnail 1s.

Made a launch pad for a drone with cooling. After all, it heats up during flights and I want it to work longer and while I change batteries it cools down.
Well, it will come in handy at races, where you can wait a long time for the start while other pilots solve their problems.

I love polls like that. They help you figure out if there are any adjustments you need to make to your gear.

From the WDRC survey about video and antenna, we've got 38 responses (out of ard 110 pilots?). I broke things down into charts for easier digestion but do take it with a grain of salt as we have...
Daniil made a fantastic video from the last competition. The competition that we organized together. So cozy.

If FPV drones were a thing in the 2000s
Some people have noticed that the analog video feed used in FPV drones looks like VHS records. Let's imagine what an FPV race event would have looked like in the 2000s. I was inspired to create this video after seeing the first album by @nevereasynevereasyβ¦

The dates of the MultiGP VRL have been published. Now you can understand whether you will be able to participate or not. And whether it is worth buying a ticket. I bought one of the first, I am waiting for the start, I am training.
At the same time, they added the opportunity to participate for free(save $50 by the way). Since the rules have not yet appeared, it is not clear what exactly needs to be done. Apparently, win in one of the stages. I guess.

We finished the final whoop race of the season. There weren't many people, but we managed to attract a lot of spectators. Thanks to the local school for providing the premises.
We tried to make the track simple so that beginners could participate and fly it. Thanks to this, two new pilots tried their hand. They are flying slowly so far, but if they continue, everything will be ok.
We are preparing for the season of 5" drones. Join us, it will be interesting!

At the last competition I dropped the controller. It's my own fault, of course. I like to put it vertically and caught it with the wire from my googles. As a result, the switches broke. The switches themselves are ordinary, so I bought them at a local radio store and replaced them. They became shorter, but are nicer.
But while I was assembling it, I saw that the gimbal axes were bent when I fell, and I tried to carefully pull them out and one broke. In theory, I can unscrew them from other, plastic ones. But it's completely unclear what kind of tool is needed here and where I shoud get it.
Maybe you know?
In the meantime, I've changed to a Boxer and it looks like I'll end up staying on it.
