Maricopa county didn't want to turn over the routers but they couldn't afford to lose $700 million in state funding so they struck a deal with the Arizona Senate.
Under the agreement, an independent third party will hire a team of technology experts to review the County’s routers and splunk logs and then answer questions posed by the Arizona Senate.
The Senate will not take possession of the routers and will write a letter to Attorney General Brnovich confirming that the county has complied with their request.
