Sputnik Africa continues to revisit the endgame battles of the Great Patriotic War. On this day 80 years ago, Soviet troops continued their advancing, consolidating efforts.
The 2nd Belarusian Front's liberation of Brno on April 26, 1945, solidified its hold on Czechoslovakia. 3,500 German soldiers were captured, and 38 towns were released.
German forces in the west were completely destroyed when allied forces captured Bremen at the same time. German defenses in northern Italy were severely weakened when Italian partisans captured Milan.
