Still a lot of upside for Index and Cashcat imo

I've been looking at these charts again and have some mixed feelings
Pons has a cleaner bullish symmetrical triangle
Many Pons eco coins are making an IHS and will follow its breakout
On the other hand, Basecat trades like the cat in a hard helmet has terminal cancer
The narrative has zero lore, and the only hope is that Base starts twapping it as everyone expects

I'm not washed, guys; most of the time it works, another part of the time it's too early, and occasionally it doesn't work
Next post will be a longer read about learning I mentioned a few days ago
The first group liked it a lot, so I decided to just drop everything in here and pin

Technical Analysis Basics
1. Essential Books
The single most important book:
Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets by John J. Murphy
(A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications)
Read it carefully and practice what it teaches.
This one book alone will put you ahead of the majority of traders on any market.
If you struggle with psychology or mental barriers while trading, also read:
Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas (Master the Market with Confidence, Discipline, and a Winning Attitude)
The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel
2. Which Chart to Use?
There are two main types:
Arithmetic (the default view most people see)
Logarithmic (click the βLogβ button, usually bottom-right)
Use the logarithmic chart for long-term analysis and for drawing trendlines. It shows moves more accurately over time.
3. Trends
There are only three types of trend:
Uptrend (ascending)
Downtrend (descending)
Sideways / ranging
Trends constantly interact and change into one another.
How to draw a valid trendline
You need at least 3 touches.
After the price touches the same line three times, the trendline is considered confirmed.
Example: a clean uptrend line on the log daily chart of Buttcoin.
(The same rule works for downtrend lines.)
Key concept
In an uptrend, previous resistance levels that get broken often turn into support. Once this βrole reversalβ clicks in your mind, chart reading becomes much clearer.
4. Chart Patterns (Reversal vs Continuation)
Two main families of patterns exist: Reversal patterns (signal the trend is ending)
Continuation patterns (signal the trend is pausing before continuing)
Rules that always apply
A pattern only exists if there is a clear prior trend.
Always identify the trend first, then look for the pattern.
The first and most reliable sign of a potential reversal is the break of a significant trendline.
Volume is especially important when a downtrend is trying to reverse into an uptrend.
(Save a good visual reference of the classic patterns and study the direction of the arrows so you immediately know which ones are bullish vs bearish.)
Continuation patterns
Triangles (symmetrical, ascending, descending)
Flags and pennants
Wedges
Rectangles
Cup & Handle (and Inverse Cup & Handle in a downtrend)
What almost all of them have in common: a sharp βpoleβ (a strong impulsive move up or down) from which the consolidation pattern develops.
Note on Head & Shoulders
Classic Head & Shoulders (HS) and Inverse Head & Shoulders (IHS) are primarily reversal patterns.
In rarer cases, they can act as continuation patterns: HS appearing in a downtrend β can continue the down move
IHS appearing in an uptrend β can continue the up move
These continuation versions are less common but do occur.
In the early Robinhood days, I once identified an Inverse Head & Shoulders as a continuation pattern on Juggernaut β it subsequently ran to multi-million market-cap territory.
Quick summary for daily use:
Switch to a log chart for longer timeframes.
Draw the trend first (3 touches minimum).
Only then look for patterns.
Volume confirms the important turns.
!!!
Study the Murphy book, practice on clean charts, and these concepts will become second nature.
