The Space Science and Geospatial Institute (SSGI) held a productive technical engagement with representatives of 2GIS and Sberbank, focusing on practical opportunities to collaborate and explore how advanced geospatial tools can support and enhance SSGI’s map production processes.
The discussions provided an opportunity for SSGI’s technical team to engage directly with 2GIS on its mapping technologies, tools, and workflows, with particular attention to their potential application within Ethiopia’s geospatial context.
Sberbank, as an investor in 2GIS and a customer of its products, also brought an important perspective on the practical use and value of these technologies.

As a concrete next step, the parties agreed to jointly develop a sample map for a selected area, providing an opportunity to practically test and demonstrate how the tools and workflows can be applied to SSGI’s map production process.
The collaboration will provide a practical basis for assessing the tools, exchanging technical knowledge, and identifying further opportunities for technology transfer, capacity building, and long-term cooperation between SSGI and its Russian partners.
