Gateway To Krasnyi Lyman: Russian Troops Attack Ukraine’s Last Defense Line Before The City

Two large "grey zones" remain in the Krasnyi Lyman direction, which are effectively controlled by Ukrainian units. This complicates a direct advance on Krasnyi Lyman.

In the Dobropillia direction, Russian forces are attempting to advance in small groups towards Kucheriv Yar. Meanwhile, intense fighting continues near Hryshyne.

In the Sumy area, the "North" grouping's assault groups advanced 200 meters and repelled the Ukrainian command's attempts to transfer reserves, including units bearing the "Azov" insignia.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops advanced 400 meters in the Lyptsi sector, 350 meters in the Vovchansk sector, and 600 meters in the Velykyi Burluk sector. They repelled counterattacks and struck strongpoints.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian troops have expanded their control zone by four kilometers to the south of Illinivka.

Russian Attacks Hit Energy Facilities, Railways, And Command Centers, While Ukrainian Strikes Targeted Port Terminals

On the night of April 6–7, 2026, Russian and Ukrainian forces continued to exchange strikes, focusing on critical infrastructure β€” energy facilities, railway junctions, port terminals, and command centers.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of April 6–7, Russian forces used 110 unmanned aerial vehicles, of which 77 were β€œintercepted or suppressed.” Targets included facilities across seven regions: Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernihiv, as well as in the Kyiv-controlled part of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

In Kharkiv, one strike hit a hostel where Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel were stationed. In the Kupiansk district, farm facilities were hit: one hangar contained a multiple rocket launcher system, while others held field depots and a maintenance station. In Zolochiv, a strike on a gas station was recorded.

Trump Announces Two Week Ceasefire With Iran But Strikes Go On (Videos)

United States President Donald Trump announced early on April 8 that he is pushing off a major bombing campaign in Iran for two weeks and that Washington has agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Tehran, subject to the latter reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Separately, Iranian state media quoted the Supreme National Security Council confirming that talks with the U.S. will begin on April 9 in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, adding that the negotiations do not signal the end of the war.

Iran said that the talks, which may last up to 15 days and can be extended by agreement, aim to finalize details of its 10-point proposal, which includes provisions on transit through the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief, and withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from regional bases.

Amid all of these developments, it was reported that the U.S. halted operations against Iran. However, missiles were launched at Israel.

Missile Wreckage Confirms Israel Is Running Low On Interceptors (Video)

The wreckage of an interceptor missile found in southern Israel on April 7 provided the first evidence that the country’s multi-layered air defense network is facing a shortage.

Video footage of the wreckage, determined to belong to a Stunner interceptor fired from a David’s Sling air defense system, surfaced online just a few hours before the United States announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran. Israel voiced its support of the ceasefire, which came 39 days after the start of the war on the Islamic Republic.

The interceptor, found in the Arab Bedouin town of Tel Sheva, carried markings indicating that it was only produced in January of this year.

Just two weeks into the war, reports of shortage of interceptors, practically in Israel, began to emerge. The Israeli military denied this, however.

Iran Says Refinery Was Hit After Ceasefire As UAE, Kuwait And Bahrain Report Fresh Strikes (Videos)

A series of strikes hit a refinery on Iran Lavan Island on the morning of April 8, just a few hours after a two-week ceasefire with the United States and Israel was announced.

Video footage posted to social networks showed smoke rising from the refinery, which can produce over 55,000 barrels per day of gasoline and high-quality fuel.

The strikes were the first clear violation of the Pakistani-brokered temporary ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier, and officially accepted by Iran.

Right after the strikes, several Gulf nations reported missile and drone attacks on their territories, in what was likely an Iranian response.
