Saudi-led coalition violates UN-brokered truce with Yemen over 200 times in 24 hours
The Saudi-led coalition forces and their allied militant groups have over the past 24 hours breached more than 200 times a UN-brokered nationwide truce that took effect in war-ravaged Yemen in April. Yemen's Arabic-language al-Masirah television network cited an unnamed Yemeni military official as making the announcement on Sunday, saying the violations included reconnaissance missions over the provinces of Ma'rib, Ta'izz, Jawf, Sa'ada, al-Hadidah, Sana'a, Ad Dali', al-Bayda, Hajjah and border areas. The source said the Saudi-led coalition forces committed truce violations initially with air strikes on citizens' homes, the positions of the Yemeni army and Popular Committees in the district of Maris in Ad Dali' and in the northwest and northeast of Hais in al-Hadidah.

Kiev poisoned Russian soldiers with neurotoxin in Ukraine's southeastern region - Moscow
Moscow has accused Ukraine of poisoning a number of Russian servicemen in the Russia-controlled part of the ex-Soviet republic's southeastern region of Zaporizhzhia in late July. The Russian Defense Ministry announced the information on Saturday, saying the servicemen in that region had been taken to a military hospital with signs of serious poisoning on July 31. Tests showed a toxic substance, namely botulinum toxin type B, in their bodies, the ministry added. Botulinum toxin type B is a neurotoxin that can cause botulism when ingested in contaminated food products.

Putin's claim that US is deliberately dragging out Ukraine conflict has merit - American military analyst
Claims made by Russian President Vladimir Putin that the United States is intentionally prolonging the Russia-Ukraine conflict may not be as implausible as described, says one U.S. military veteran and journalist. In a speech this week, Putin called out "Western globalist elites" who he said are "provoking chaos, inciting old and new conflicts," and attempting "to preserve the hegemony and power that is slipping out of their hands." He added that the situation in Ukraine shows the U.S. is "trying to prolong the conflict." Sean Spoonts, a U.S. Navy veteran and editor-in-chief of Special Operations Forces Report (SOFREP), told Newsweek that President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky seem to have separate policy goals in mind. "It seems like while Ukraine would like to end the war quickly and decisively defeat Russian forces and drive them out of their country, U.S. policy almost seems designed to prolong the conflict hoping to bring about the collapse of Russia...

Injuries & damage as summer storms hit Slovenia
Fierce winds swept through Slovenia Thursday afternoon, ripping off roofs and toppling trees and other objects in parts of the country, leaving several people lightly injured in Ljubljana. In Kranj, the winds peeled roofs off some 70 buildings. The Kranj fire brigade commander Andraž Šifrer told the STA more than 150 firefighters were on the ground to deal with the situation. "It's mostly uncovered roofs, ripped cables, trees fallen on roads and vehicles," he said. Several people were injured by falling trees and other objects in Ljubljana, where the Environment Agency data shows winds gusted up to a record 102 kilometres an hour. The wind blew away rubbish bins, billboards, roofs, traffic signs, building materials. Part of the roof of the Ljubljana UKC maternity ward was uncovered, but has since been mostly put back.

Monsoon rains, flooding kill 42 in Pakistan - 2 feet of rain in 48 hours - almost 700 dead with 1.5 million affected since mid-June
Almost 700 people have now lost their lives as a result of weeks of monsoon rains in Pakistan, including 42 people who died in the last 2 days. Over 1.5 million people have now been affected, with thousands moving to relief camps for safety. Pakistan has already received over 95 per cent of its total normal monsoon rainfall. The heavy rain continues to fall and Padidan in Sindh Province recorded 595 mm in 48 hours to 20 August 2022. Since the start of the monsoon in mid-June this year, heavy rain has caused houses to collapse, flash floods, mudslides and landslides. Higher temperatures and heavy rain caused Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) in mountainous areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Trump to file unlawful search and seizure motion over 'illegal' FBI raid
Former President Donald Trump announced he will file a Fourth Amendment unlawful search and seizure motion over the FBI's "illegal" raid on Mar-a-Lago in a post made on TRUTH Social on Friday. "A major motion pertaining to the Fourth Amendment will soon be filed concerning the illegal Break-In of my home, Mar-a-Lago, right before the ever important Mid-Term Elections," Trump posted. The former President said the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago violated his rights, "together with the rights of all Americans," and added that it is part of a continued witch hunt against him. Trump added: My rights, together with the rights of all Americans, have been violated at a level rarely seen before in our Country. Remember, they even spied on my campaign. The greatest Witch Hunt in USA history has been going on for six years, with no consequences to the scammers. It should not be allowed to continue!

The Israeli army raided the offices of seven Palestinian civil society organizations in the occupied West Bank overnight on Thursday, confiscating and damaging items belonging to the organizations, and sealing off their offices. Six of the seven organizations were designated as "terrorist institutions" by the Israeli government in October 2021, and were subsequently outlawed by the Israeli military commander in the occupied West Bank. The original six organizations are human rights group Al-Haq, prisoners rights group Addameer, Defense for Children International - Palestine, the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), The Bisan Center for Research and Development, and the Union of Palestinian Women's Committees.

US taunts Russia to escalate in Ukraine
In military terms, the crude, locally assembled drone dropping a country-made bomb or two on unguarded sites in Crimea are at best pin pricks in the big picture of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. But it can be profoundly consequential in certain other ways. For a start, this escalation has Washington's approval. A senior Biden administration official told NatSec Daily the US supports strikes on Crimea if Kiev deems them necessary. "We don't select targets, of course, and everything we've provided is for self-defence purposes. Any target they choose to pursue on sovereign Ukrainian soil is by definition self defense," this person said. But Washington knows — and Moscow knows — that like any sophistry, this one too is a clever argument but inherently fallacious and deceptive. The New York Times has interpreted the drone attack on Crimea as a challenge to the leadership of President Vladimir Putin. The Times wrote that the Crimea attacks "put domestic political...

Fly like an eagle, Darya Dugina
Darya Dugina will be flying like an eagle in an otherworldly sky. Darya Dugina, 30, daughter of Alexander Dugin, a smart, strong, ebullient, enterprising young woman, whom I met in Moscow and had the honor to cherish as a friend, has been brutally murdered. As a young journalist and analyst, one could see she would carve for herself a glowing path towards wide recognition and respect (here she is on feminism). Not so long ago, the FSB was directly engaged in smashing assassination attempts, organized by the SBU, against Russian journalists, as in the case of Olga Skabaeyeva and Vladimir Soloviev. It's mind-boggling that Dugin and his family were not protected by the Russian intelligence/security apparatus. The key facts of the tragedy have already been established. A Land Cruiser Prado SUV, owned by Dugin and with Darya at the wheel, exploded in a highway near the village of Bolchie Vyazemy, a little over 20km away from Moscow. They were both coming from a family festival, where...

Sorry, climate change hysterics. There are fewer wildfires today than in the 1930s
Last Wednesday, Matt McGrath reported on the BBC that the amount of tree cover being burned has nearly doubled over the past 20 years. Of the 9.3 million hectares burnt globally, Russia was alleged to account for more than a half. Of course, climate change was said to be a "key factor" in the increase. There is no factual basis for this claim, needless to say. Take the word of Greenpeace, which recently reported Russian government statistics that showed "nine out of ten wildfires in the country were caused by humans". McGrath, of course, was complying with the Corporation's strictly-enforced agenda that says that almost every natural disaster and episode of extreme weather should be blamed on humans burning fossil fuel. The ultimate political agenda is the command-and-control Net Zero fantasy. Climate change was said to be the key factor by McGrath because it leads to higher temperatures and drier conditions. Except, it might be added, when global temperatures pause, as they have...

Murders at the border and attacks in Jalisco and Guanajuato stun Mexico
Dramatic bouts of violence and mayhem in two regions of Mexico this week have left at least 12 dead and dozens of businesses torched, dramatizing the ability of crime gangs to wreak havoc and shatter the semblance of normality almost anywhere in the country without warning. On Friday, hundreds of Mexican troops were dispatched to the northern border city of Ciudad Juárez in a bid to bolster security after a series of apparently random gang attacks across town on Thursday and early Friday that left at least 11 dead — including a popular radio personality and three of his co-workers, and two inmates shot in a prison riot. Assailants armed with guns and Molotov cocktails targeted convenience stores, gas stations, a pizza shop and vehicles. The killings just across the Rio Grande from El Paso came days after roaming bands of criminals hundreds of miles away to the south set fire to dozens of shops, buses and cars, and threw up roadblocks on major arteries across a wide swath of the...

Zelensky faces furious criticism from Ukrainians — WaPo
Many Ukrainians have been infuriated by an admission, from President Vladimir Zelensky, that he concealed news of the imminent Russian special military operation last spring. That's according to the Washington Post, where he made the revelation earlier this week. Zelensky's disclosure that he sacrificed lives to avoid ruining the economy was his first serious communication blunder since the conflict began, the paper said. Before Zelensky seemed "beyond reproach, a national hero" to Ukrainians, the publication said, but the acknowledgment has "punctured the bubble, triggering a cascade of public criticism unprecedented since the war began." In the interview, Zelensky admitted that prior to the outbreak of hostilities with Russia, he was downplaying US warnings about a looming attack out of fear Ukrainians would flee the country en masse. "If we had communicated that ... then I would have been losing $7 billion a month since last October," he said. Zelensky claimed that this...

CDC admits to botched COVID response, announces overhaul — critics say plan doesn't address 'unholy alliance' with Pharma
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Wednesday announced a "drastic" overhaul of the agency aimed at modernizing it and rescuing its reputation after widespread criticism of its COVID-19 response and, more recently, the monkeypox outbreak. "For 75 years, CDC and public health have been preparing for COVID-19, and in our big moment, our performance did not reliably meet expectations," CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said in an email to the agency's 11,000-person staff. Walensky said the overhaul will focus on making the agency more nimble and responsive to needs that arise in health emergencies. The CDC in a statement said it has never in its 75-year history "had to make decisions so quickly, based on limited and evolving science," and that the agency's traditional scientific and communication processes were "not adequate to effectively respond to a crisis the size and scope of the COVID-19 pandemic." According to CBS News, Walensky's proposed internal changes include: Expand...

Jihadists launch deadly hotel assault
An attack on a popular hotel in the Somali capital has left several people dead, according to police and witnesses, with a rebel militia group detonating explosives outside before gunmen stormed the building. A gun battle with security forces is ongoing as of Saturday morning. The assault on the upscale Hayat hotel in Mogadishu kicked off late on Friday and was soon claimed by al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda linked jihadist group based in Somalia. After blasting their way into the building, armed fighters then ran inside and have continued a shootout with police since. Security official Abdukadir Hassan told AFP: "A huge blast went off a few minutes before the gunmen forced their way into the hotel. The security forces are now engaging with the enemy who are holed up inside the building."

US war on China/Russia targets new multipolar world, sabotages global economy: Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega
In a fiery speech denouncing US imperialism, Nicaragua's President Daniel Ortega analyzed the shifting balance of power in the world today. He explained: "A new order is being born in the world that buries imperialism, buries the colonialists, and opens the way to a democracy of nations, a multipolarism that is manifesting itself in various ways. North American imperialism is trying to maintain its hegemony at all costs, even at the risk of sinking its own economy." But in an attempt to halt this transition to a multipolar world, the United States is waging war on China and Russia, he said. The Nicaraguan revolutionary leader argued that "fascism left its roots and is embedded" in parts of the United States and Europe, and they "have the objective of trying to destroy the People's Republic of China" and the Russian Federation. The Western "ideologues of imperialism" are "worried," Ortega added. "They see the People's Republic of China providing benefits to the peoples" of Latin...

UC Berkeley student housing co-op bans white people from common areas
An off-campus co-op for students at the University of California, Berkeley named the 'Person of Color Theme House' has banned white guests from entering common areas of the house. A list of house rules revealed that occupants were told 'many POC moved here to be able to avoid white violence and presence, so respect their decision of avoidance if you bring white guests.' While the student house aims to have an 'inclusive' environment, the rules specifically state 'white guests are not allowed in common spaces,' according to the list, which was posted on Reddit.
