Democrats bring woman who is a witch and a furry as witness for abortion hearing
Democrats brought a woman who appears to be a member of a witch coven that engages in furry play as a key witness in a Dobbs hearing on Tuesday. The Oversight & Investigations subcommittee held a hearing on the impacts of the reversal of Roe v. Wade and "taking away the Constitutional right to an abortion." The subcommittee heard testimony from various individuals on why abortion is "absolutely necessary." Democrats were allowed four witnesses and one of their totally sane choices was Paulina Guerrero. When Paulina isn't working as a National Program Manager at an abortion clinic, she spends her free time making YouTube videos conducting witch spells and engaging in furry play. Comment: The videos have been scrubbed.

Daycare owner says she shot husband for molesting children at the center
A daycare owner from Baltimore is facing charges after she shot her husband in a D.C. hotel room on Thursday evening, alleging he molested several children at her business. According to DC Superior Court documents, Shanteari Weems, 50, reportedly shot her husband and then barricaded herself in a room at the Mandarin Oriental, igniting a police standoff that started around 7:40 p.m. and ended just after 8:30 p.m. While Baltimore County police are currently investigating Weems' claims, Twitter users are asking for Weems to be released from custody. Since the arrest of the daycare owner, 'FREE HER' immediately trended on Twitter. The 'FREE HER' movement currently has over 22,000 tweets, with users praising Weems as a vigilante.

Long lost palace of Genghis Khan's grandson may have been found in Turkey
Turkish and Mongolian scientists may have found the remains of a long-lost Khan palace in eastern Turkey that they believe was built by Genghis Khan's grandson, Hulagu Khan. Hulagu Khan was the ruler of the short-lived Ilkhanid state in the 1260s AD. A report in Live Science stated that archaeologists working at the Van Province excavation site near Çaldıran probably found the historically documented Khan palace, which was constructed between 1260-1265. The Turkish Hulagu Khan Palace and the Ilkhanate State Hulagu Khan (reigned 1256-1265) is notoriously associated with the brutal sacking of Baghdad in 1258, which destroyed much of the city and its rich historical heritage. The Khan's wrath on the city resulted in the destruction of the Grand Library of Baghdad, which contained countless manuscripts and books on mathematics, astronomy, physics, philosophy from the Islamic Golden Age (8th century onward). After Baghdad was sacked, the city's leader, Caliph Al-Musta'sim Billah, was...

US officials voice DNA biowarfare fears
A House Intelligence Committee member warns Americans against using DNA testing kits. Biosamples gathered by various DNA testing services could be sold and used to develop bioweapons specifically tailored to target certain groups or even individuals, US lawmakers have claimed at the Aspen Security Forum - echoing concerns long voiced by Russian officials. "There are now weapons under development, and developed, that are designed to target specific people," US Representative Jason Crow (D-Colorado), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said in Colorado on Friday. "That's what this is, where you can actually take someone's DNA, take their medical profile, and you can target a biological weapon that will kill that person or take them off the battlefield or make them inoperable."

'Fed wants to bring down demand without destroying economy' - strategist
All eyes are on the Federal Reserve ahead of next week's FOMC meeting as record-breaking inflation persists and consumer sentiment hits new lows. Thomas Hayes, managing member and chairman at Great Hill Capital, is expecting the Fed to remain cautious as they try to balance the two issues while still protecting the U.S. economy. "I think you're seeing the Fed trying to walk the tightrope," Hayes said on Yahoo Finance Live (video above). "They wanted to bring down demand, which they've certainly done, but they don't want to destroy the economy." A key example, he said, is how the Fed promised to do $47.5 billion of liquidity withdrawal or tightening in the month of June, but instead wound up buying roughly $3 billion net of treasuries and reduced liquidity by just $7.5 billion in mortgage-backed securities.

Foreign spies tried to force me to take anti-Russia stance - Serbian minister
A major foreign intelligence service has been pressing Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin over his attitude towards Russia and China, the official revealed on Saturday. The minister expects a large media campaign against him to kick off next week. "One of the largest intelligence services in the world, if not the largest, told me that my stance was unacceptable and that if I do not change [it] and do not abandon the policy that I am pursuing ... then I will not be a member of the government and they will do absolutely everything to smear me," Vulin told media outlet Pink. He expects a media campaign against him to begin next week. Despite the pressure, the minister said he refused to cooperate in any way with the foreign spies. "I haven't worked and won't work for anyone except for the Serbian people, the Serbian state, and I won't be completely loyal to anyone, except for the president of all Serbs, Aleksandar Vucic," the minister said.

Seeking a Russian passport could mean jail for Ukrainians

A bill that is currently being considered by Kiev proposes fines and lengthy prison terms for doing so, Deputy Minister for the Re-integration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Anatoly Stelmakh revealed on Monday. "Considering the legislation we're currently working on, some of its articles introduce penalties ... ranging from a fine to 15 years in prison," Stelmakh said on Ukrainian TV. Irony: BBC and The Times complain about the secrecy of the Skripal novichok 'public inquiry'
The British government's scheme of secrecy surrounding the public inquiry into the alleged Novichok attacks against Sergei and Yulia Skripal and Dawn Sturgess in 2018 has been opposed by the BBC and the London Times. "A requirement for confidentiality undertakings", a BBC lawyer wrote to the inquiry chairman, Lord Anthony Hughes, in a document released by Hughes' spokesman last Friday, "is itself an impediment to transparency... as well as general, healthy discourse among legal and editorial colleagues." David Attfield is the head of the BBC's programme legal advice department which signed the document. But the name on the signature line has been blacked out. "The media should be trusted to act responsibly," the BBC told Hughes.

Pentagon memo shows Trump gave order to 'make sure' Jan. 6 rally was 'safe event'
House Democrats' marquee summer show of primetime investigative hearings ended Thursday night where it began: unable or unwilling to answer essential questions about the Jan. 6 Capitol breach. Chief among them: If Donald Trump wanted to incite violence that fateful day, as his critics suggest, then why did he order the Pentagon to have a large military force ready to quell a disturbance? And why did a Democrat-led Congress turn down the assistance of pop National Guard troops in the face of intelligence warnings about violence? By their own admission, Democrats set up the hearings to evade such scrutiny. They declared any questions about what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi knew about the potential for Jan. 6 violence and when she knew it were off limits.

Iranian Ministry announces ban on presence of women in advertising
Iran's Guidance Ministry has told advertising agencies that under the government's tightening of the so-called hijab and chastity law, women are now prohibited from appearing in advertisements. The ministry sent a letter to agencies over the weekend following the release of a promotional video by the Domino ice-cream company that featured an actress wearing a sweater donning additional layers of clothing while images of ice cream flash across the screen. At the end of the ad, she is wearing a winter coat and hat and takes a bite of the ice cream. A government agency subsequently called the ad "a crime" and condemned the use of an actress saying such ads lead to the "promotion of immorality" in the society.

Synthetic tools conduct messages from station-to-station in DNA
Rice University researchers have demonstrated that CRISPR-Cas9, increasingly famous as a gene-editing tool, can be employed in powerful additional ways in human cells. A team led by Rice bioengineer Isaac Hilton and graduate student Kaiyuan Wang used deactivated Cas9 (dCas9) proteins to target key segments of the human genome and synthetically trigger the transcription of human genes. By using dCas9 to recruit proteins that can naturally turn genes on, the Rice team was able to reveal important details about human promoters and enhancers — the pieces of our DNA that coordinate when, and to what extent, our genes are turned on — which in turn controls the behaviors of our cells. Hilton said: "We're using these synthetic biology tools to improve the ability to engineer gene expression and program human cells, and consequently to better understand how our genes work naturally. These types of studies are important because in the long run this knowledge and these technical capabilities...

Russia reveals Western attempts to censor photo-ops of Lavrov and Arab League
Western countries have tried to bar Arab officials from photo opportunities with Russian counterparts, the Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a visit to Egypt on Sunday. Lavrov revealed that before heading to Cairo he was shown a document from the Arab League, which has its HQ in the Egyptian capital, speaking about "an initiative ... by a group of ambassadors from the US, France, Germany, the UK and a representative of the EU." "It demanded our Arab friends, firstly condemn, secondly, reject certain actions by Russia. And this initiative especially stressed that they shouldn't sign any documents with us and take pictures with us," the Russian FM pointed out after talks with his Egyptian colleague, Sameh Shoukry.
