This week in volcano news - Volcanic activity near Sitka, Iceland earthquake swarm
In the last week, several major volcano related news stories broke. In Alaska, the Mount Edgecumbe volcano near the town of Sitka produced an unexpected swarm of several hundred earthquakes, suggesting that magma is on the move at depth. Meanwhile in Australia, strong thermal signatures were detected on Heard Island, indicating that a new eruption may have begun. And, in Iceland, a series of earthquake swarms occurred near the Blue Lagoon hot springs, which may have been volcanic in origin. This video will discuss these volcano related news stories, as told and analyzed by a volcanologist.

Top economist: 'We're about to abandon traditional system of money' - and not a single US politician is talking about it - Why?
Could it be the same reason none want to talk about digital passports and killer injections? Since I posted the article on March 30 about Pippa Malmgren's bombshell statement at the World Government Summit on the coming global digital money system, I have been inundated with emails from worried readers. They want to know what they should do to protect their assets in the face of such a dramatic change. I have not been able to respond to all these emails so I will respond here. Ideally, these emails should be directed to your representatives in Congress, who actually have the ability to stop or slow down the rush toward a digital currency. But instead, our senators and representatives, even those on the House and Senate banking and financial oversight committees, have remained silent on this issue. I am not a professional investment adviser, so take this for what it's worth.

Russiagate and laying the foundation for World War III
The revelations pouring out from John Durham is very enlightening which has confirmed that the Democrats for four years led by Hillary Clinton, set in motion the strategy to constantly attack Trump and thereby prevent him from carrying out his goal to drain the swamp. John Durham has revealed that the "secret Trump server is communicating with a Russian bank" was a totally fictitious claim put out their by Hillary which had no basis in fact whatsoever. It was just totally made up. In a new filing, Durham revealed that the CIA concluded that cellphone data and Internet traffic provided by Clinton attorney Michael Sussmann was "not technically plausible" and "user created." This proved to be deliberately fabricating evidence which was the same strategy behind the notorious Christopher Steele dossier, which they also fabricated facts. Of course, the CIA was against Trump as was the NSA because they were on the agenda of creating war with Russia. Despite all of this evidence which is...

Unlike Ukraine, Russia still has 'vast majority' of combat power available as invasion continues
Despite having reportedly lost more than 20,000 soldiers in the nearly two mostly unsuccessful months since invading Ukraine, the Russian military still has a "vast majority" of their combat capabilities, according to the Pentagon. "We still assess that, in general, they have the vast majority of their assembled combat power available to them," spokesman John Kirby told reporters Monday. "From what they have assembled over the course of the fall and in the early winter months and weeks, they still have a lot of the amassed combat power available to them." But Moscow's losses have taken their toll as well, including the destruction of 167 Russian aircraft, 790 tanks, eight boats and 67 anti-aircraft warfare systems, among other equipment, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense said earlier that day.

DeSantis: Florida lawmakers to consider elimination of Disney's self-governing status
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has taken his battle with Disney a step further, announcing at a press briefing on Tuesday that the state's legislature will consider terminating the special status of the Reedy Creek Improvement District that administers much of Walt Disney World. Comment: See: Florida GOP threatens to strip Walt Disney World of its right to build anything it wants inside its theme park as feud over 'Don't Say Gay' bill escalates DeSantis said that the special session of the state's legislature will be expanded to include considering the termination of all special districts enacted in Florida prior to 1968, according to a video of the press briefing shared by the governor on Twitter. The special status, which Disney has had since 1967, gave the company the legal right to operate under its own government around Walt Disney World in central Florida.

Johnny Depp says he was demeaned, berated by Amber Heard
Actor Johnny Depp returned to the stand Wednesday for testimony in his libel lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard, a day after he denied her allegations of domestic abuse. Depp took the stand in Fairfax County Circuit Court after nearly three hours of testimony on Tuesday. Most of his Day 1 testimony focused on his descriptions of a difficult childhood, his rise to fame as an actor after an aborted music career and his early relationship with Heard after meeting her on the 2011 film "The Rum Diary." The two married in 2015 and she filed for divorce a year later.

CNN streaming service looks doomed
Warner Bros. Discovery has suspended all external marketing spend for CNN and has laid off CNN's longtime chief financial officer as it weighs what to do with the subscription streaming service moving forward, five sources tell Axios. Why it matters: Inside CNN, executives think the launch has been successful. Discovery executives disagree. CNN has roughly 150,000 subscribers so far. Warner Bros. Discovery wants to eventually build one giant service around HBO Max. New leadership has replaced CNN CFO Brad Ferrer with Neil Chugani, Discovery's current CFO for streaming and international, as part of a broader finance team restructuring. Other high-level positions at WarnerMedia across different business functions are likely to be eliminated to cut costs and streamline leadership in coming weeks.

Russia accuses OSCE of 'spying' for Ukraine
Monitors collected intel for Kiev while leadership hushed up forced seizure of its vehicles, Moscow claimed The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) collaborated with the Ukrainian government in its fight against the Donbass republics and tried to cover up offences by Ukrainian nationalist forces, Russia's deputy representative to the UN told a UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday. The accusations came as Dmitry Polyansky blasted Western powers, saying they were being hypocritical regarding the security crisis in Ukraine. The US and its allies pursue their own selfish interests rather than the interests of the Ukrainian people, when they fan hostilities in the east European country, the diplomat said.

Shanghai officials cautiously ease lockdown as official death toll rises to 7
Faced with the country's worst virus outbreak in two years, Shanghai has confined most of its 25 million people to their homes since last month, doubling down on the Communist Party's unrelenting zero-Covid approach. Shanghai further eased its gruelling, weeks-long Covid-19 lockdown on Wednesday despite a mounting official death toll and tens of thousands of daily cases. China's largest city is ambling towards reopening as businesses and residents grow increasingly desperate over closures and food shortages. Faced with the country's worst virus outbreak in two years, Shanghai has confined most of its 25 million people to their homes since last month, doubling down on the Communist Party's unrelenting zero-Covid approach. But the surge, driven by the fast-spreading Omicron variant, has thwarted official efforts to avert a pandemic rebound, with more than 400,000 infections reported since March.

Do Conspiracies Really Exist? Murray Rothbard Thought So
It is also important for the State to inculcate in its subjects an aversion to any "conspiracy theory of history;" for a search for "conspiracies" means a search for motives and an attribution of responsibility for historical misdeeds. If, however, any tyranny imposed by the State, or venality, or aggressive war, was caused not by the State rulers but by mysterious and arcane "social forces," or by the imperfect state of the world or, if in some way, everyone was responsible ("We Are All Murderers," proclaims one slogan), then there is no point to the people becoming indignant or rising up against such misdeeds. Furthermore, an attack on "conspiracy theories" means that the subjects will become more gullible in believing the "general welfare" reasons that are always put forth by the State for engaging in any of its despotic actions. A "conspiracy theory" can unsettle the system by causing the public to doubt the State's ideological propaganda. — Murray N. Rothbard, Anatomy of the...

Crude could surge to $185/barrel if EU bans Russian crude - JP Morgan
The price of oil could soar if the European Union (EU) abruptly bans Russian crude from its energy markets, JPMorgan said on Tuesday in a note. According to the investment bank, a full and immediate embargo would displace four million barrels of Russian oil per day, sending the benchmark Brent crude to $185 a barrel. "Such a ban would leave neither room nor time to re-route [supplies] to China, India, or other potential substitute buyers. In a slower phase-out, Russia would have more time to adjust its oil flows toward friendlier buyers and global ex-OPEC supply growth would have time to grow sufficiently to fill at least some of the Russia-sized hole in global oil supply." The Wall Street bank's warning comes as the EU considers an embargo on Russian oil imports.

Yemeni president Abdrabbuh Hadi steps down under Saudi pressure
Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi stepped down under pressure from Saudi Arabia and is now under de-facto house arrest, The Wall Street Journal reports. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud allegedly handed a written decree to Hadi on the sidelines of the talks in Riyadh, which set out provisions for the delegation of powers to the presidential council, the newspaper said on Sunday citing Saudi and Yemeni officials. Prince Mohammed told Hadi that other Yemeni leaders had agreed that it was time for him to relinquish power, according to the officials. Saudi officials pressured Hadi to step down and threatened to release evidence of his alleged corrupt activities, The Wall Street Journal said.

Judge approves extradition of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, sends final decision to UK government
A British judge on Wednesday formally approved the extradition of Julian Assange to the United States to face spying charges. The case will now go to Britain's interior minister for a decision, though the WikiLeaks founder still has legal avenues of appeal. The order, which brings and end to the years'-long extradition battle closer, comes after the U.K. Supreme Court last month refused Assange permission to appeal against a lower court´s ruling that he could be extradited. District Judge Paul Goldspring issued the order in a brief hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court, as Assange watched by video link from Belmarsh Prison and his supporters rallied outside the courthouse, demanding he be freed. Home Secretary Priti Patel will now decide whether to grant the extradition.

DeSantis threatens Twitter with legal action in Elon Musk dispute
Florida governor Ron DeSantis is stepping into the growing dispute between Elon Musk and Twitter over the Tesla and SpaceX CEO's hostile takeover of the social media company. During a Tuesday news conference, DeSantis said that the state's lawyers were reviewing options for legal action against Twitter's Board of Directors, to "hold them accountable for breaching their fiduciary duty." Florida, through its Retirement System pension fund, is an investor in Twitter. The move comes after the Wall Street Journal on Monday quoted sources who said that Twitter plans to reject Musk's bid to purchase the company at $54.20 per share, an 18 percent premium over the closing price of $45.08 on the day of his offer. Shortly after Musk announced his bid, Twitter's board activated a "poison pill" defense mechanism against an informal attempt by Musk to buy more stock, whereby new shares would be sold at a discount to dilute his control over the company. Musk is currently Twitter's largest...

IMF tells governments to protect vulnerable people when tackling Covid debt
Analysis: Fund's world economic outlook highlights need to protect people such as refugees Gloom at the International Monetary Fund is nothing new. Since last summer the body responsible for stabilising and supporting the world economy has been growing ever more pessimistic. First it was rising inflationary pressures caused by supply-side bottlenecks. Then it was the arrival of the new Omicron variant towards the end of 2021. Now it is the war in Ukraine, something not anticipated when the Washington-based organisation last published its assessment in January but which dominates the IMF's world economic outlook. Comment: Seriously? By January, even lazy arm chair gurus knew something was up!

The Russiagate hoax goes deeper than we thought
The latest filing by Special Counsel John Durham, investigating Russiagate and the Hillary Clinton campaign, suggests the rabbit hole goes a bit deeper than we thought. One hates to sound like Rachel Maddow, but it is just that much more likely the walls are closing in. Durham filed a new, 34-page motion on April 15, 2022, in answer to defendant Michael Sussman's request to dismiss the case against him. Durham accused Sussman of lying to the FBI about his working for the Clinton Campaign while he was trying to sell the Bureau on an investigation into Trump's ties to Russia, focusing on alleged Internet pings between a Trump server and the Russian Alfa Bank. Sussman's claims also included a number of pings against Trump Tower WiFi and later White House WiFi by a Russian-made Yota cell phone. Sussman's motion basically called Durham case garbage, which pressed Durham to explain to the court why the case needed to proceed, hence the new motion. The court subsequently ruled against...

Biden told Obama he's running again
President Biden told former President Obama that he is planning to run for reelection in 2024, two sources tell The Hill. The admission to Obama is the latest indication that Biden is likely to run for a second term, something the president has spoken about publicly. During a press conference in Brussels last month, he told reporters he'd be "very fortunate" to run against his rival in the 2020 election, former President Trump. "[Biden] wants to run and he's clearly letting everyone know," said one of the two sources familiar with the conversations between Obama and Biden. The source also said that Biden, despite his faltering approval ratings, remains the most likely Democratic candidate to defeat Trump. This was a key part of Biden's salesmanship to voters as he sought support for his 2020 bid — and a big reason primary voters rallied to him in South Carolina and Super Tuesday states where he sealed his status as the Democratic front-runner. "I believe he thinks he's the only one...
