UK: Support for Russia sanctions drops amid inflation worries
The soaring cost of living in the UK appears to have overshadowed concern for Ukraine The number of Britons advocating harsh economic sanctions against Russia in response to its military campaign in Ukraine has dropped over the past month, as revealed by the latest opinion poll. Conducted by Redfield and Wilton Strategies and commissioned by The Sunday Telegraph, the survey indicates that only 36% of the respondents polled this week are prepared to accept higher fuel prices in order to hurt Russia more - 14 percentage points down from 50% in March. A third of the Britons surveyed replied in the negative when asked if they were willing to pay more for food to help Ukraine withstand the Russian offensive. Another third, however, said it's a sacrifice worth making.

Spring snow blankets California's Sierra Nevada Mountains - 100 centimeters (39.4 inches) of snowfall in 7 days
More than 100 centimeters of snow fell in a week in California's Sierra Nevada mountains after another late-season snowfall, UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab said on Saturday, April 16. The UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab said 19 centimeters (7.5 inches) of snow fell overnight into Saturday morning, for a total of 100 centimeters (39.4 inches) in the seven days leading to April 16. Video from outside the lab posted on April 16 shows heavy snow falling on top of accumulated snow from the previous days. More snow was expected in the coming week, the lab said.

We can't let them get away with this power grab - Dr.Tess Lawrie
I just got off a call with the WHO that's left me shaken, reaching for my affirmations and more determined than ever. As you may know, the WHO is proposing a global pandemic agreement that would give it undemocratic rights over every participating nation and its citizens. Put simply, in the event of a 'pandemic', the WHO's constitution would replace every country's constitution. Whether your country's elected government would agree or not, the WHO could impose lockdowns, testing regimes, enforce medical interventions, dictate all public health practice, and much more. Over the course of this pandemic, the WHO has withheld safe and established older medicines, ignored the experiences of frontline doctors, disregarded evidence from low, middle and high-income countries, and taken no heed of the values and preferences of people affected by their recommendations. It has apparently ignored the huge numbers of adverse reactions on its own database and has failed to issue warnings about...

The Biden administration tally for released illegal immigrants in the country since inauguration: 756,109
In accordance with a court docket temporary filed on Thursday by the America First Authorized Basis, Joe Biden has discharged over 756,109 unlawful migrants since taking workplace in January 2021. Customs and Border Safety and Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended and launched 545,000 individuals who crossed the border illegally. ICE apprehended and launched 212,000 folks. Let's break that down. That quantity (756K-plus) is larger than Boston, the capital of Massachusetts; greater than Detroit, a serious metropolis in Michigan; and roughly the scale of the United States capital in Washington, DC. Though the variety of unaccompanied adolescents resettled across the nation is near 123,000, and 1000's extra are believed to have crossed the Mexican border undetected throughout those 12 months. Homeland Safety would take 14.5 years to deport all unlawful immigrants it has launched within the final 13 months in the event that they are to be eliminated.

Riots spread in Sweden amid far-right plans to burn Koran
Chants of 'Allahu Akbar', police cars set on fire, and officers injured - this is what the run-up to Easter looked like in multiple towns and cities across Sweden this week, after the authorities gave a far-right anti-immigration group the go-ahead to stage rallies, which included plans to burn the Koran. Unrest broke out on Thursday in the city of Linkoping, where gangs of youths clashed with police, injuring three officers. At least two people were detained. The violence was sparked by the Swedish authorities' decision to grant permission for a series of anti-Islam rallies. Organized by Rasmus Paludan - a right-wing Danish politician who has spent time in prison on racism-related charges - the events in various places across Sweden were intended to feature the burning of Islam's holy book, the Koran. Tensions came to a head on Friday when the Danish firebrand descended on the city of Orebro. While Paludan and his supporters were initially allowed to hold their rally, it...

British commandos return to Ukraine
British SAS troops have trained Ukrainian forces for the first time since the Russian military offensive began, in February, Ukrainian commanders told The Times on Friday. Instructors from the UK were previously withdrawn from the country, two months ago, when NATO member states were expecting a Russian assault. The British have now returned to teach locals how to use NLAWs, UK-supplied shoulder-fired anti-tank missile launchers, the paper explained, citing Captain Yury Mironenko and two other Ukrainian commanders, identified only by their nicknames. The units which received the training are stationed around the capital, Kiev, the report revealed. Mironenko told the paper: "We have received huge military help from Britain. But the people who knew how to use NLAWs were in other places, so we had to go on YouTube to teach ourselves." He added that the British officers were in their unit two weeks ago.

US Army using lessons from Ukraine war to aid own training
In the dusty California desert, U.S. Army trainers are already using lessons learned from Russia's war against Ukraine as they prepare soldiers for future fights against a major adversary such as Russia or China. The role-players in this month's exercise at the National Training Center speak Russian. The enemy force that controls the fictional town of Ujen is using a steady stream of social media posts to make false accusations against the American brigade preparing to attack. In the coming weeks, the planned training scenario for the next brigade coming in will focus on how to battle an enemy willing to destroy a city with rocket and missile fire in order to conquer it. If the images seem familiar, they are, playing out on televisions and websites worldwide right now as Russian forces pound Ukrainian cities with airstrikes, killing scores of civilians. The information war on social media has showcased impassioned nightly speeches by Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as...

Russia reiterates its primary goal in Ukraine
Moscow sees Ukraine's hardcore nationalist units as a threat to peace in the country and is working to destroy them, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained on Friday. Moscow stated that a crackdown on far-right forces in Ukraine, many of which adhere to various kinds of neo-Nazi ideology, was one of the goals for the Russian troops operating in Ukraine. Peskov said it remained a priority: "In places where there are no nationalist battalions to take peaceful populations hostage [or] shoot up social sites, houses, peaceful life takes hold. In places where the nationalist battalions do those things, there is intensive fighting. There, they are all subject to being destroyed." "The [military operation] continues and the objectives are well known. They have to be achieved and they will be achieved."

Zelensky gives his vision of peace deal with Russia
A peace agreement with Russia might consist of two separate documents that would cover the two key issues - security guarantees for Kiev and its future relations with Moscow, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday. Speaking to Ukrainian media, Zelensky explained that Moscow would like to have one comprehensive document that would address all the issues. However, because the security guarantees involve other countries, two documents could be a solution. According to the Ukrainian leader: "A peace treaty with Russia can consist of two different documents. One of them should concern security guarantees for Ukraine, the other to directly address its relations with the Russian Federation." He explained that a document covering security guarantees could be signed by those countries "who are ready for these security guarantees," while another document could cover future relations between Ukraine and Russia. Zelensky claimed that the UK, US, Italy and Turkey have shown a...

Biden genocide comment raised concern among some U.S. officials
President Joe Biden's declaration this week that Russia is committing "genocide" in Ukraine raised concerns among some officials in his own government and has so far not been corroborated by information collected by U.S. intelligence agencies, according to senior administration officials. At the State Department, which is tasked with making formal determinations of genocide and war crimes through an independent legal process, two officials said that Biden's seemingly offhand declaration during a domestic policy speech in Iowa on Tuesday made it harder for the agency to credibly do its job. U.S. intelligence agencies collect information when allegations are made of actions that could amount to genocide, but policymakers are the ones who actually decide whether to declare it. Intelligence reports on Ukraine currently do not support a genocide designation, officials said. "Genocide includes a goal of destroying an ethnic group or nation and, so far, that is not what we are seeing."

FLASHBACK: Chrystia Freeland's side gig with the WEF is endangering Canadian democracy
There's no need to invent conspiracy theories. The attempt by global elites to subvert local democracy is fully on and in plain view. The World Economic Forum (WEF), which has met at the Swiss ski resort of Davos every year since its creation in 1971 by German academic and entrepreneur Klaus Schwab, was forced to convert its annual schmoozefest into a virtual event this year due to COVID-19. Of note on the main agenda was a "stakeholder capitalism" panel, which included Canada's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Chrystia Freeland. The former-journalist-turned-politician has been a fixture at the WEF for years. Rubbing shoulders at Davos with the world's rich, famous and powerful was one of the inspirations for her 2012 book, Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else. Indeed, in her book, Freeland notes that an invitation to Davos "marks an aspiring plutocrat's arrival on the international scene." The global elite don't especially...

SOTT FOCUS: NewsReal: Shanghai Lockdown - Moskva Hit - Escalation in Ukraine?
Shanghai has been under severe lockdown for three weeks for reasons the Chinese government says are entirely to do with enforcing its 'Zero Covid' policy of playing whack-a-mole with any and all expressions of 'Covid cases'. By their own admission, the city of 26 million people has just 25,000 'cases', mostly asymptomatic, and ZERO deaths. So why put the population under such duress 'to save lives'? This week on NewsReal, Joe and Niall attempt to explain the real motive for Shanghai's harsh lockdown, discuss what (probably) really happened to the Russian Black Sea Fleet flagship the Moskva, ponder just how far the US and Russia are willing to escalate their proxy war in Ukraine, stand back in awe at the Western media's blaming of all the world's problems on Putin, and comment on the potential takeover of Twitter by 'based' billionaire Elon Musk. SOTT FOCUS: Military Situation in Ukraine: An Update by Jacques Baud
The Operational Situation As of March 25, 2022, our analysis of the situation confirms the observations and conclusions made in mid-March. The offensive launched on February 24 is articulated in two lines of effort, in accordance with Russian operational doctrine: 1) A main effort directed toward the south of the country, in the Donbass region, and along the Azov Sea coast. As the doctrine states, the main objectives are — the neutralization of the Ukrainian armed forces (the objective of "demilitarization"), and the neutralization of ultra-nationalist, paramilitary militias in the cities of Kharkov and Mariupol (the objective of "denazification"). This primary push is being led by a coalition of forces: through Kharkov and Crimea are Russian forces from the Southern Military District; in the center are militia forces from the Donetsk and Lugansk republics; the Chechen National Guard is contributing with engagement in the urban area of Mariupol; 2) A secondary effort on Kiev, aimed...

No risks supplying weapons to Ukraine claims German justice minister
Germany faces no risks under international law when it supplies arms to Ukraine amid Russia's ongoing military operation, German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann told Die Welt on Saturday. Ukraine is fighting a "defensive war," the minister claimed, adding that it has a right to fight back under the UN Charter. This fact, according to Buschmann, allows other nations to send it weapons without fear of being seen as a party to the conflict. "When it [Ukraine] exercises its legitimate right for self-defense, supporting with arms deliveries cannot lead [a nation] to becoming a party to war," Buschmann said, adding that it is not just his personal opinion but "that of the federal government."

Mystery as giant 'unidentified Russian' Antanov plane spotted flying from German airport on way to US
A giant "unidentified Russian" aeroplane was spotted flying over Yorkshire this morning. According to the flight tracker website Flightradar24, the A124 Anatanov flew over Yorkshire from the Humber Estuary to the Pennines between approximately 8am and 9am today (Sunday). The plane is recorded as taking off from Leipzig Halle Airport, in the east of Germany at around 6am GMT. The aircraft - the second-largest model in the world - then flew over the rest of Germany, the Netherlands, the North Sea and over Yorkshire. It passed over Pontefract, Wakefield, Heckmondwike, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden before crossing the Pennines into Lancashire and onwards across the Atlantic.

Sudden surge in unexplained cases of liver inflammation seen in children in UK, US, Spain, and Ireland
U.K. health officials are investigating dozens of cases of unexplained hepatitis, or liver inflammation, that have recently emerged among young children there. Similar cases of pediatric hepatitis have also been reported in the U.S. and Spain. Some of the affected children in the U.K. have required assessment at specialized centers and a "small number" of kids have undergone liver transplantation procedures, the U.K. Health Security Agency (UKHSA) announced on April 8. Although hepatitis viruses (hepatitis A, B, C, D and E) are often the cause of hepatitis, these viruses have been ruled out, the statement said. Potential complications of hepatitis include liver failure and death, and liver transplants are typically used to treat end-stage liver failure, according to Stanford Children's Health. "That's the only definitive treatment for acute liver failure," said Dr. Rachel Tayler, a pediatric gastroenterologist at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

Washington's geopolitical appetite has been growing
In recent days, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and State Department spokesperson Ned Price have expressed their views on when the Russia-Ukraine conflict might end. Sullivan said on Thursday that "fighting in Ukraine could go on for months or longer." Blinken and Price said that the clash could last through the end of 2022. There are indications showing that this is not so much a judgment by Washington as it is its real intent. This prediction is an extension of seven months from previous ones that generally argued that the conflict would end in May. After the outbreak of the Ukraine crisis, almost all Washington's practices have been to push the war into a prolonged one, and all kinds of mobilization and "efforts" have been made to this end. This prediction of Washington's, in effect, is telling Ukraine to go ahead and "we support you." Ukraine has been extremely exploited as a pawn. As the Russia-Ukraine conflict has lasted for more...

COVID vaccinations and Oxitec's 'flying syringes'
This essay is going to ramble a bit because we need to build a framework of links as a foundation for our main point. Some apparently disparate elements are closely connected as part of a broader agenda, but we need first to identify the relationships. ZIKA South America, 2015 We begin with a brief review of ZIKA, this 2015 outbreak in South America of a virus so mild that it had never done anything to anybody. ZIKA normally produces symptoms such as a slight fever or conjunctivitis and sometimes joint pain, but typically so mild that the symptoms last for only a few days and most people don't even know they have it. ZIKA is not contagious but is transmitted by mosquitoes, which means you must be bitten by an infected mosquito to contract it. There is much about the ZIKA outbreak that is important to our story. You may want to read my prior article on ZIKA to fully understand. (1) For now, we can note that the outbreak was accompanied by an intense flood of carefully-organised...

NASA may provoke alien invasion, scientists warn
Oxford researchers are reportedly concerned that the US agency's effort to communicate with extraterrestrials could be dangerous. Scientists at the UK's Oxford University have reportedly sounded an alarm over plans by NASA to broadcast location data and other information into space, warning that the effort could have dangerous unintended consequences, including triggering an alien invasion. At issue is the planned "Beacon in the Galaxy" (BITG), a broadcast of data by a NASA-led team of researchers with the aim of greeting "extraterrestrial intelligences." The US space agency wants to beam the signal from the SETI Institute's Allen Telescope array in California and China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST). It would include such information as the biochemical composition of life on Earth, the Solar System's time-stamped position in the Milky Way, digitized images of humans and an invitation for extraterrestrials to respond.

Ukraine offensive 'no more scandalous' than invading Iraq - ex-French ambassador
The former French ambassador to the US and UN Gérard Araud has told China's Global Times that resentment at the "double standards" of the West is likely turning some countries off supporting Washington's position on Russia. He added that while the European Union is following America's lead in regards to Moscow, it will not do the same when it comes to China. The Chinese joined more than 40 others in voting against, or abstaining from, a motion condemning Russia's offensive in Ukraine at a meeting of the United Nations last month. India, Pakistan and South Africa were among those who refused to back Washington's line, which didn't surprise Araud. "There is a colonial past which is feeding some resentment. There is also the fact that the West is lecturing the rest of the world and using double standards very often," the former diplomat told the state-owned Global Times on Thursday. "I'm quite aware that, after all, invading Ukraine is no more scandalous than invading Iraq in 2003,"...

Rex Murphy: What right does the government have to judge Rebel News?
Outside of news organizations and reporters, I'd guess that most people do not know that the Canadian government has established what it likes to call an "independent advisory board" to decide on the question of what is or what is not a "qualified Canadian journalism organization" (QCJO). Before getting into what being designated a QCJO means, for news outlets and subscribers to them, I'd like to pause on the phrase itself, and the power to apply or deny it. My interest in doing so arises from the recent decision from the Independent Advisory Board on the Eligibility for Journalism Tax Measures on the status of Rebel News, which gave out a curiously precise evaluation of that doughty organization: "A review found that less than one per cent of the content meets the criteria for original news content as required by the act." So the first thing to ask is obvious: is it not strange that in a democratic political system, authority has been granted to a government department to define...
