Finland and Sweden in NATO means change to nuclear posture - Moscow
Russia would have to deploy significant forces to its northwestern borders if Sweden and Finland join NATO, the country's ex-president, Dmitry Medvedev, warned on Thursday. He added that deploying nuclear arms to the region might well be a way of "restoring the balance" of security. The two states acceding to the US-led military bloc would only mean Russia will have more "officially registered adversaries," the former president wrote in a lengthy Telegram post commenting on the aspirations of Stockholm and Helsinki. The length of the land border between Russia and the military bloc will nearly double should the plans come to fruition, added Medvedev, who is currently deputy chairman of the country's Security Council. "This border's [security] will have to be strengthened," he continued. Possible enhancement options include "drastically increasing the number of land forces and air defenses" in the region, and deploying additional warships to the Gulf of Finland. "The non-nuclear...

Ukraine's decision to not receive German president 'irritating' - Chancellor Scholz
Germany is doing enough to support Ukraine, Chancellor Olaf Scholz told the country's RBB radio broadcaster on Wednesday. The head of government has also said he has no plans to travel to Kiev after the Ukrainian authorities turned down a visit by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The chancellor said he had been to Kiev not long before the start of the military conflict, adding that he is in constant contact with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by phone. "There is hardly any head of state or government who has such intensive contacts with me," he told RBB. Scholz called Kiev's decision not to receive the German president "irritating," adding that Steinmeier would have gladly visited the Ukrainian capital and "it would have been good" for Ukraine to welcome him.

Shanghai residents question human cost of China's Covid quarantines
Lu, 99, was a long-time resident at Shanghai's Donghai Elderly Care hospital, her loved ones secure that she was getting round-the-clock care at the city's largest such centre. That was before COVID-19 struck China's biggest city last month, the country's worst outbreak since the virus emerged in Wuhan in late 2019, infecting multiple patients, doctors and care workers at the 1,800-bed facility. Orderlies posted cries for help on social media, saying they were overwhelmed. Relatives told Reuters that there had been several deaths. Lu, whose relatives asked that she be identified only by her surname, had coronary heart disease and high blood pressure. She caught COVID and, though she had no symptoms, was being transferred to an isolation facility, her family was told on March 25. She died there seven days later, the cause of death listed as her underlying medical conditions, her granddaughter said.

Lara Logan 'definitely pushed out' at Fox after criticizing Fauci
Reporter Lara Logan said she was forced out of Fox News and its streaming service after publicly criticizing Anthony Fauci. "Lara Logan Has No Agenda," a show streamed on Fox Nation, was dropped, and the former CBS News correspondent has not appeared as a Fox News guest since making her comments about Fauci late last year. "I was definitely pushed out," Logan told The Eric Metaxas Radio Show. "I mean, there is no doubt about that. They don't want independent thinkers. They don't want people who follow the facts regardless of the politics." During a Fox News interview in November, Logan criticized Fauci for his policies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Fren Elon
Video credit: Greg Reese of Reese Report Everyone's having a field day watching the illiberals freak out over Twitter potentially have some level of "free speech" restoration applied in the wake of Elon Musk's offer to buy the company and take it private. And as usual, the hysteria of the crowd is blinding people to the truth. For the third post in a row: Twitter has the highest concentration of retards anywhere in the digital universe. But that's only one truth. In 2020 Elon Musk's net worth was ~$30 Billion. One year later (you know what happened that year) he was worth $240 Billion. Did he suddenly start mining rare earth metals on a nearby asteroid? No. Did he sell more cars than the previous year? Barely. Toyota sold 10x more cars and trucks than Tesla, but if you combined the market capitalization of ALL the automobile manufacturers in the world, they were still worth less than Tesla. Did Tesla motor company innovate some new kind of battery that could get 500 miles per...

Ukraine is smashed, this is how it will be repaired
It's a mark of civilized people that they keep and honour their old things. When the things are broken, they put the pieces back together again. In the 19th century rural Americans of northeast states like Pennsylvania did this with their old tablecloths, dresses, and curtains, turning the remnants into patchwork quilts. Starting several hundred years earlier, the Japanese, having to live in an earthquake zone, had the idea of restoring broken ceramic dishes, cups, and pots. Instead of trying to make the repairs seamless and invisible, they invented kintsugi (lead image) - this is the art of filling the fracture lines with lacquer, and making of the old thing an altogether new one. Quite quickly, the Japanese turned cheap lacquer fillings (urushi) into gold (kintsugi) and silver (gintsugi). In this way, a frugal custom of the poor working classes turned into conspicuous consumption of the rich leisure classes.*

Explosion and huge fire at gas plant in Wichita, US
Two people have been transported to a hospital in Wichita following an explosion and fire at the Tenawa Haven Gas Plant. Reno County Emergency Manager Adam Weishaar said they only suffered minor injuries. Crews were called to the fire on Kent Road around 1:15 p.m. on Thursday. Weishaar said they were met with heavy smoke and flames as well as some explosions. A two-mile radius around the plant was evacuated, and crews began working to knock out the fire. Units from Burrton, Colwich, Mt. Hope and Burrton have been called in to assist with the fire. K-96 will remain closed for the next several hours to allow firefighters to transport water to the fire.

The left is freaking out over Elon Musk because Twitter rigs the game for democrats
Mega-billionaire Elon Musk wants to buy out Twitter, and leftists are freaking out at the thought of their censorship regime potentially being on the brink of destruction. Musk announced on Thursday that he made an offer to purchase Twitter for nearly $43 billion. That's a nearly 40 percent premium over the closing price of the company's stock at the beginning of the month. The offer comes just days after Twitter announced Musk would no longer join its board of directors, a seat that would have prevented Musk from owning more than a 14.9 percent share of the company, per their agreement. Musk did not publicly comment on his reasoning for rejecting a seat at Twitter's table, but his social media activity implied he felt forced out by Twitter officials who were not willing to sacrifice the company's power over speech.

The power pendulum swings from West to East.
The rise and fall of empires throughout recorded history were periods of volatility and conflict. When plotting a historical timeline showing the 'life-span' of consecutive empires, each empire forms a sinusoidal peak. The decline of the prevailing empire and the rise of the emerging empire intersects at a point, depicting a transition period. That transition is a multiyear process ushering in the 'changing of the guards', which results in a tectonic shift of economy and culture. This trend of transitions has similar parallels pertaining to war and reserve currency status. Let us examine the past 400 years of world reserve currencies. The first cycle marks the rise and fall of the Dutch Empire which was dominated by the use of a gold/silver backed guilder standard. The second cycle began with the rise of the British Empire where it crossed with the decline of the Dutch Empire marking an intersection point. One of the major events at that point was the 4th Anglo-Dutch war during the...

Veep in free fall: Even California voters souring on Kamala Harris
Vice President Kamala Harris's popularity in her home state of California has fallen to a new low, according to a poll conducted this month. The Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll, which surveyed nearly 9,000 registered voters in California from March 29 to April 5, found that Harris's approval has sunk even as President Joe Biden's has seen a slight bump in the Golden State. Just 35 percent of voters approve of Harris's performance, while 45 percent disapprove. That's down from the last Berkeley poll two months ago, which showed 38 percent approval of the vice president. Her disapproval rating fell by 1 point during that time period.

Marine Le Pen proposes closer Nato-Russia ties after Ukraine war, leave Nato 'integrated command'
The French far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has said that once the Russia-Ukraine war is over, she would propose closer links between Nato and Russia and pull France out of the military command of the US-led alliance. "As soon as the Russian-Ukrainian war is over and has been settled by a peace treaty, I will call for the implementation of a strategic rapprochement between Nato and Russia," she said at a press conference. Le Pen, who is polling at 45% to Emmanuel Macron's 55% for the presidential runoff vote on 24 April, called the press conference on foreign policy to try to take the spotlight off her previous close relationship with Vladimir Putin, which has led to claims from Macron that she was "complacent" and "financially dependent" on the Kremlin.

CIA chief names biggest threat
The intelligence boss called Beijing the "greatest challenge," while noting the "nuclear threat" posed by Russia. CIA Director William Burns outlined the major threats facing the United States, pointing to China's rise on the world stage and Russia's ongoing military offensive in Ukraine as top challenges, while declaring that US intelligence has entered a "new era." Speaking at the Georgia Institute of Technology on Thursday for his first public speech ever as CIA head, Burns argued that "an increasingly adversarial China and a pugnacious and revisionist Russia" have forced the intel agency to "reimagine itself to compete successfully in this new age."

US-NATO Goes Global: NATO Declares Its Intent to Include All Countries. Conquer and Control the Entire World?
When a military alliance that is headed by the world's most powerful country (America) makes public that it is hostile against (aiming to control) both of the other two most powerful countries (Russia and China), then it actually exists in order to conquer (include), ultimately, ALL countries, and to replace the United Nations — the current authoritative source of international law[1]. What this implies is to replace the U.N. and its authorized agencies, by the U.S.-proposed "rules-based international order," whose "rules" come not from FDR's envisioned U.N., but instead come from the post-WW-II Deep State or Military-Industrial Complex, the billionaires who control the armaments and global extraction and media firms and the U.S. Government itself, which latter Government will become imposed upon the world (all countries except America) by the world's most powerful country (America), which had created and leads that military alliance (NATO) and is now publicly aiming to conquer...

Russia agrees Austria can pay for gas in euros, Vienna declares it wants 'sanctions to hurt Russian Federation'
Following his visit to Moscow, earlier this week, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin assured him that gas will continue to be delivered to the country and that Vienna will be allowed to continue paying for it in euros. "Putin told me that the gas supply is safe, that Russia will deliver the contractually agreed quantities and that payments can continue to be made in euros," Nehammer told Austrian APA and German DPA news agencies on Wednesday. The chancellor also noted that Austria, which still gets 80% of its gas from Russia, opposes an immediate EU gas embargo on Moscow, arguing that it is simply not possible at the moment and would mean that both Austrian industry and households would suffer serious harm, while not having much of an effect on Russia.
