We look in shock at the indoctrination - and resulting sexualization - of the young, surprised that a secular progressive movement would go after the softest of minds. BC Hydro said nearly 30,000 customers on Vancouver Island lost power Sunday morning in an area just north of Nanaimo. Most of the outages affected Qualicum Beach and Parksville, a region that saw rare spring snow Sunday. BC Hydro cited several causes for the outages, including failed transmission circuits, downed wires and the snowstorm itself. "The outage on #VancouverIsland was caused by heavy, wet snow bringing down several trees," the Crown corporation. "Crews are working to complete repairs but customers may still experience an outage once the line is restored due to smaller, localized damage." By 5 p.m., BC Hydro said it had reduced the number of outages to about 1,000.

Parts of Alberta just got some heavy spring snow - up to a foot deep
Albertans know we usually aren't out of the snowy woods until we get past the May long weekend, and parts of Alberta just got a heavy dump of spring snow. Let's just say the Easter bunny may have a heck of a time navigating Fort McMurray next week, thanks to a hefty amount of snow they got overnight Saturday into Sunday, April 10. The northern Alberta city can expect a further five centimetres of the white stuff to fall today according to Environment Canada, on top of the already large amount they've already received. It's set to be cold too thanks to strong winds tonight pushing the temperature to feel like -19°C overnight. Not very spring like at all!

Countless calico scallops washed ashore Friday, scattering a mystery over a mile-long stretch of Satellite Beach. Local beachgoers say they've never seen anything like it, while state biologists — as they investigate the matter — speculate wind and waves brought them in. Others aren't so sure. "Our Fish and Wildlife Health staff have samples and are currently investigating further," Carly Jones, a spokeswoman with the state's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, said Friday. "It is most likely that a combination of wind and/or wave swells washed them ashore." Kevin Johnson, a professor of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences at the Florida Institute of Technology, doubts that's the case. "Their typical habitat is 30-40 meters deep," Johnson said Friday. "I don't think we've had winds that could do that without some help. I believe something weakened or killed them ahead of washing ashore."
