Canada explores transhuman society
The report examines the implications of the assimilation of digital technologies that, in essence, would fundamentally re-imagine life on an individual, environmental, and societal level. The Government of Canada's think-tank, Policy Horizons Canada, published a report titled Exploring Biodigital Convergence looking at transhumanism. Biodigital convergence can be defined as the intersection and synthesis of biological systems with digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), biometrics and genetic engineering. In the human realm, this field is called transhumanism. The report examines the implications of the assimilation of digital technologies with biological entities that, in essence, would fundamentally re-imagine life on an individual, environmental, and societal level. More concisely, the reconfiguration — if realized — would radically redefine what it means to be human. Transhumanism is no longer a concept confined to a generation of cheesy Hollywood B-movies —...

Local authorities in Donbass are gathering information on casualties from the explosion Retreating Ukrainian forces have allegedly blown up a tank allegedly containing hydrochloric acid, at a chemical plant in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) town of Rubezhnoe, which has emerged as a flashpoint in the ongoing military conflict. The tank explosion was aimed at a populated area, controlled by local fighters, the LPR's militia claimed on Tuesday. "[These] terrorist actions might lead to mass civilian casualties," the force warned on its Telegram channel, adding that authorities are currently collecting information about any casualties resulting from the incident.

New type of cell found hidden in the lungs
The newfound cells help to maintain a healthy respiratory system. Scientists have discovered a brand-new type of cell hiding inside the delicate, branching passageways of human lungs. The newfound cells play a vital role in keeping the respiratory system functioning properly and could even inspire new treatments to reverse the effects of certain smoking-related diseases, according to a new study. The cells, known as respiratory airway secretory (RAS) cells, are found in tiny, branching passages known as bronchioles, which are tipped with alveoli, the teensy air sacs that exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide with the bloodstream. The new RAS cells are similar to stem cells — "blank canvas" cells that can differentiate into any other type of cell in the body — and are capable of repairing damaged alveoli cells and transforming into new ones.

Zelensky just debunked Poland's latest comparison of Putin to Hitler, UK's Bojo opposes peace deal with Russia at ANY cost
Either Morawiecki is lying or Zelensky just sold out to the person who's supposed to be the second most evil man in history according to the official US-led Western MSM narrative by defending his decision to continue negotiating with Putin. If the first is true, then this exposes Poland as politically manipulative, while the second would suggest that Zelensky is actually just as fascist as he's accused by his opponents of being. New Western darling Volodymyr Zelensky just debunked Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki's latest comparison of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler. The Polish leader engaged in historical revisionism on Monday by rhetorically asking French President Emmanuel Macron, "Nobody negotiated with Hitler. Would you negotiate with Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot?" That's factually false though since Poland negotiated a non-aggression pact with Nazi Germany in 1934 and then carved up Czechoslovakia with it a few years later after Munich. Morawiecki's...

BEST OF THE WEB: Russia-friendly Serbian president declares victory in re-election bid
Vucic claims to have won election as pollsters predict incumbent will dodge runoff Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has declared himself the winner of Sunday's presidential election, as polls close and an early projection places him far enough ahead to avoid a runoff election. Analysis by the Center for Free Elections and Democracy has given Vucic 59% of the votes, a comfortable margin of victory. Speaking from his party headquarters, the incumbent leader declared "Serbia will remain on the European and reformist path, but also friends with Russia and China." The country is currently in the process of joining the EU, but has declined to cut off all relations with Moscow amid the conflict in Ukraine, unlike many of its NATO-member neighbors.

Orban calls out 'opponents' of Hungarian government: Brussels, Soros, Zelensky, legacy media
Hungary's Viktor Orban, fresh from winning a fourth term as prime minister in Sunday's election, said his party was victorious despite facing interference from left-wing forces at home and "opponents" around the world, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and billionaire political activist George Soros. "We have such a victory, it can be seen from the Moon, but it's sure that it can be seen from Brussels," Orban told supporters on Sunday night, alluding to his party's clashes with EU leaders. "We will remember this victory until the end of our lives because we had to fight against a huge amount of opponents."

Ivan Timofeev: Why the West's anti-Russian sanctions are politically pointless
It's now been over a month since a tsunami of Western sanctions hit Russia. Their unprecedented scale is a notable characteristic. All key industries are under attack. Russia's reserve assets abroad have been frozen. Tough control measures have been imposed on exports, especially when it comes to technology and industrial goods. All of this happened within an extremely short period of time. Something like this has occurred in Russia's history only once before - after the 1917 Bolshevik revolution. Even during the Cold War, the Iron Curtain was gradually eroding, but now it's in the process of being actively rebuilt. Another peculiarity is the zeal with which the Western business community is following through on the sanctions, often running ahead of the politicians. Companies tried to stay away from politics before, and now corporations boycott even those sectors that haven't been officially sanctioned - from the fast-food industry and furniture retail to denying access to academic...

Trial begins in West Virginia lawsuit against opioid makers
Opening arguments have taken place in a West Virginia lawsuit accusing several drugmakers of misrepresenting the risks and benefits of opioids Drug manufacturers misrepresented the risks and benefits of opioids in West Virginia and contributed to the state's opioid crisis, Attorney General Patrick Morrisey said in opening arguments at a trial that began Monday. Morrisey asked a judge to hold Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., along with Teva Pharmaceuticals Inc., AbbVie Inc.'s Allergan and their family of companies accountable for their "unlawful, unreasonable, callous and destructive conduct." The defendants "participated in a highly sophisticated scheme to mislead healthcare providers and consumers about the addictive nature of their products," Morrisey said. Those efforts led to opioids becoming a common treatment for chronic pain and fueled substance abuse in West Virginia. The state has the nation's highest rate of drug overdose deaths. Morrisey...

New survey in UK finds major public concerns NOT addressed by Covid-19 Inquiry and the now infamous 'nudge unit'
The UK Covid-19 Inquiry, set up to examine the UK's pandemic response, is consulting on the draft terms of reference until the 7th April. An independent new survey by opinion experts Yonder for grassroots organisation Recovery has revealed that the terms of reference fail to address major public concerns. Although the draft terms bullet-point no less than 32 separate areas of focus for the Inquiry, key areas of concern are missing. Recovery found that: 42% want the Inquiry to consider the use of behavioural psychology in influencing public behaviour during the pandemic40% want restrictions on the media examined, reflecting concern over whether the actions of Ofcom and the main broadcasters and social media platforms compromised freedom of speech60% want a specific focus on children to be included in the inquiry - there is currently no mention of impact of Covid measures on children.

Economic reality confronts Europe with some hard choices
After a brief period of depression, the Russian rouble has recovered back to the position held in December 2021 and is currently trading at around 84 roubles to the US dollar. It was not a recovery foreseen by the Americans who have made a determined effort to attack the rouble and by that means mount an attack upon the Russian economy. The latest move by the Russians is to require purchases of their gas to be made in roubles. Initially this created consternation in European capitals who have loyally followed the dictates of the Americans in making life difficult for Russian traders, whether in gas, oil or any other commodity. In fact, the device signed by Russia's President Putin is not as draconian as the first reactions suggested. Purchasers in Europe of Russian goods are still able to pay in Euros. The funds are paid into the Gazprom bank which then converts the sum paid into roubles and pays that some to the supplier of the goods. One of the immediate benefits of this...

Fed inflation lies, Russia sanctions and a New World Order
The Federal Reserve and most other world central banks are lying about how interest rates affect inflation. It's no small matter, as it clearly is being used to usher in a global economic depression, this time far worse than in the 1930s, using Russia as the scapegoat to blame, as the powers that be prepare to push the world into what Joe Biden recently called "a New World Order." I have made the case many times that every major economic depression or recession of the past century or so, since creation of the US Federal Reserve, has been the deliberate political result of Fed actions. The present situation is clearly a repeat of that. Recent statements and actions of the Fed on combating inflation indicate that they plan to provoke a full blown global depression in the next several months. The conflict in Ukraine and the insane flood of NATO country sanctions on everything Russian will be used to accelerate the process of global inflation in food, energy and everything else, and...

Documents expose how Australian government misled citizens
Qatari state news outlet Al Jazeera has published previously unseen, and heavily redacted documents, on Tuesday, which paint a troubling picture of the closed-door conversations that preceded the implementation of Australia's Assistance and Access Act. It comes after the broadcaster grappled with the Canberra government for nearly five years over a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in relation to the far-reaching legislation, announced in 2017, that became law the following year. The law forces tech companies like Google, Facebook and Apple to grant police access to users' encrypted data. It includes steep fines to punish companies that refuse to turn over private data to police. Individual citizens who refuse to cooperate could face prison time under the uniquely harsh policy. Revelations from the documents include a November 2015 letter in which Australia's Attorney-General's Department addressed the heads of intelligence and law enforcement agencies about "broader plans...

Rachel Levine is 100% woman and we are sorry for calling her a man
We, The Babylon Bee, have decided to issue an apology. After being caught in a culture-war whirlwind of hatred and bigotry, we published an article naming Rachel Levine our "Man of the Year." Sometimes, even satirists make mistakes. Our misgendering headline was hateful, insensitive, and cruel. Rachel Levine is 100% a real, actual woman. We were absolutely wrong to say otherwise. We understand now that our attempt at comedy was really "punching down" at a wealthy and powerful government trans woman official, and we have no excuse. We went too far. We apologize to the trans community. We apologize to the women community, of whom Rachel Levine is clearly a part — and has been since her birth. We hope to take this opportunity to learn, grow, and be better as satirists — and as human beings. So we invite our readers to say it with us, loudly and proudly, and with all the strength and goodness of 1000 kindergarten teachers in Florida trying to teach 5-year-olds about sex: Rachel Levine...

Elon Musk contacted The Babylon Bee before making significant Twitter acquisition
Elon Musk, the world's richest man, contacted the satirical website The Babylon Bee, before making a significant acquisition of Twitter. Musk, who has appeared on The Babylon Bee's podcast alongside its chief executive and writers, is a fan of the publication and has shared links to the page numerous times. The Babylon Bee, which is currently suspended from Twitter over an article that jokingly referred to US Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine as "Man of the Year," hosted Musk at the end of 2021. Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon claims that Musk consulted with The Babylon Bee before purchasing a 9.2% stake in Twitter. "Musk reached out to us before he polled his followers about Twitter's commitment to free speech," Dillon said on Twitter. "He wanted to confirm that we had, in fact, been suspended. He even mused on that call that he might need to buy Twitter. Now he's the largest shareholder and has a seat on the board."

Footage shows Ukrainian troops brutalizing captives
Videos show officers kicking detainees in the head and mocking one scared man's weak bladder. Footage published on Ukrainian social media on Tuesday appeared to show people in uniform beating up and harassing detainees. The mayor of the country's fourth largest city, Dnepr, close to where the incidents happened, justified the mistreatment on social media, branding the arrestees as "crime bosses" and claiming they previously attacked members of the region's militia. The graphic footage includes two separate videos, showing armed people in military fatigues brutally arresting men in civilian clothes. The troops are wearing the same kind of blue armbands that Ukrainian soldiers often use to identify their allegiance.

EU reveals why it won't ban Russian gas
Foreign policy chief says banning Russian gas imports is not possible due to Hungary's veto. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has announced that introducing a total ban on Russian gas imports has been ruled out because the bloc would not be able to pass a unanimous vote due to Hungary's position. "A unanimous decision cannot be taken because there is one country, Hungary, which has said it will veto it," the politician said in an interview with the Spanish outlet COPE.

Soviet-era's last US envoy to Moscow comments on war atrocities accusations against Russia
Moral outrage over images of apparent war atrocities in Bucha, Ukraine is understandable, but the calls to turn Russia into a pariah state are ill-advised, a former US ambassador to the Soviet Union warned on Monday, during an appearance on CNN. Jack Matlock held various positions during the height of the Cold War and was Washington's representative to the USSR in the final years of the communist powerhouse. The veteran diplomat warned CNN audiences that the drive to further antagonize Russia, which prevails in the West, is ill-advised, especially since it's driven by emotions rather than reason. "I share many of these emotions, but to the idea that we can make a major nuclear weapon state a pariah, that by our actions we actually are destroying those elements in that society that could bring a positive change in the future. I think that is not wise," he said.

Ukraine rejects exchange of Crimean POWs, Russia to provide evidence to UN amidst fears Kiev may execute them
Russia's human rights ombudsman has pledged to investigate information that some Crimean officers, held captive in Ukraine, have been allegedly designated by the Kiev authorities as "unexchangeable" and could even be subject to execution. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Tatiana Moskalkova confirmed that Russia and Ukraine had earlier conducted an exchange of prisoners in the "86 to 86 format." She also said she was given a list of some Crimean officers, whom Ukrainian authorities allegedly would not allow to be exchanged, and who, she fears, may face execution.
