Russia, Ukraine & the law of war: Crime of aggression
Scott Ritter, in part one of a two-part series, lays out international law regarding the crime of aggression and how it relates to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. "To initiate a war of aggression is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulative evil of the whole." - Judges of the International Military Tribunal at the Nuremberg Trials. When it comes to the legal use of force between states, it is considered unimpeachable fact that in accordance with the intent of the United Nations Charter to ban all conflict, there are only two acceptable exceptions. One is an enforcement action to maintain international peace and security authorized by a Security Council resolution passed under Chapter VII of the Charter, which permits the use of force. The other is the inherent right of individual and collective self-defense, as enshrined in Article 51 of the Charter, which reads as...

BEST OF THE WEB: Lavrov goes on global tour, meets Chinese FM to advance 'a multipolar, fair, and democratic world order'
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is meeting, on Wednesday, with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, for the first time since Moscow launched its military campaign in Ukraine on February 24. Unlike most Western nations, and some Asian countries, Beijing has refused to condemn Moscow and rejected calls to impose sanctions. The neighboring countries will work to achieve "a multipolar, fair, and democratic world order," Lavrov said after arriving in Tunxi, a city in China's eastern inland Anhui Province, on Wednesday. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova posted a photo of the two ministers greeting each other with an elbow bump. Beijing has argued that economic restrictions disrupt world trade and will not resolve the conflict. Officials insist only dialogue and diplomacy can lead to peace. TASS quoted Wang as saying that despite "new challenges" to the ties between the two nations, "the will of both sides to develop bilateral relations has become even stronger."...

SOTT FOCUS: Two Weeks To Flatten The World
"All this is a digression. The real power, the power we have to fight for night and day, is not power over things, but over men. How does one man assert his power over another? ...By making him suffer. Obedience is not enough. Unless he is suffering, how can you be sure that he is obeying your will and not his own? Power is in inflicting pain and humiliation. Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing. Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? — George Orwell, "1984" "We become slaves the moment we hand the keys to the definition of reality entirely over to someone else, whether it is a business, an economic theory, a political party, the White House, Newsworld, or CNN." — B.W. Powe COVID-19 has magically disappeared. After more than two years of non-stop bombardment with Covid "news", there has been none at all in mainstream headlines for over a week. West's institutions silent over Ukraine's torture of Russian POWs - Zakharova
Lack of response from the Council of Europe, the EU and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to the abuse of Russian prisoners of war carried out by the Ukrainian military is criminal, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. "They are keeping quiet. There is no response to these war crimes and gross violations of international humanitarian law. Their eyes are blurred by Russophobia," Zakharova noted.

Medvedev says 'new world financial order' is coming - plus ruble for gas updates
A new financial order will be negotiated in the world, and the West won't have the main say in it anymore, ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has claimed. The "hellish" sanctions imposed on Russia by the US, EU, and their allies over the conflict in Ukraine have failed to cripple to the country, but are instead "returning to the West like a boomerang," Medvedev, the former Russian president who is now the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, wrote on Telegram. "This is hurtful for our 'friends' in Europe and overseas." But while the West continues its "fruitless efforts" to restrict Russia, "the world is gradually moving towards a new logic of global economic relations; towards upgrading the financial system," he said. According to Medvedev, the US and EU have "tarnished their reputation" by blocking the reserves of the Russian central bank. "It is impossible to trust those who freeze the accounts of other states; steal other people's business assets and personal...

BEST OF THE WEB: Is Russia the REAL target of Western sanctions?
The first tweet I saw when I checked my timeline this morning was from foreign policy analyst Clint Ehlirch, pointing out that the Russian ruble has already started recovering from the dip created by Western sanctions, and is almost at pre-war levels: Ehrlich states, "sanctions were designed to collapse the value of the Ruble, they have failed". ...to which I can only respond, well "were they?" ...and perhaps more importantly, "have they?" Because it doesn't really look like it, does it? If anything, the sanctions seem to be at best rather impotent, and at worst amazingly counterproductive.

'Entitled' millennial generation 'never had to sacrifice': BlackRock exec
Inflation and high gas prices are forcing a generation of "entitled" younger Americans to learn the pain of not being able to buy things at the store, the head of asset management giant BlackRock said. "For the first time, this generation is going to go into a store and not be able to get what they want," BlackRock President Rob Kapito told a conference in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday. "And we have a very entitled generation that has never had to sacrifice." Kapito's remarks were first reported by Bloomberg News. Kapito said that the US economy is beset with what he called "scarcity inflation," which translates into a shortage of workers, supplies, housing, and even energy. "I would put on your seat belts because this is something that we haven't seen," Kapito said.

Russia makes new allegations about US-funded biolabs in Ukraine
Documents and other evidence from US-funded laboratories in Ukraine suggest that Kiev was planning to use drones to deploy pathogens against the Donbass, as well as Russia itself, Moscow claimed on Wednesday. The Defense Ministry also alleged that it has identified specific US officials involved in the development of bioweapons in the East European country. No direct evidence was provided to back up the assertion. Of particular interest to Russian investigators are "documents testifying to the plans of the Kiev regime to use unmanned aerial vehicles capable of carrying and spraying deadly substances," military spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov outlined during a briefing. Facts in the possession of the Russian military "prove that the Kiev regime was seriously considering the possibility of using biological weapons against the population of the Donbass and the Russian Federation," Konashenkov added. Russia has also identified "specific officials who took part in the creation...

BEST OF THE WEB: California introduces new bill that would allow mothers to kill their babies up to 7 days after birth
After assaulting basic human rights for over two years, California Governor Gavin Newsom is working on a new INFANTICIDE bill that would legalize the murder of children up to nine months gestation and in the week(s) after birth. The bill has been proposed by Newsom's "Future of Abortion Council" which makes recommendations to "strengthen and expand" abortions in the state of California. Under California AB 2223, a mother will be shielded from civil and criminal charges for any "actions or omissions" related to her pregnancy. These actions include not only abortion in any stage of pregnancy, but also "perinatal death." Perinatal death is defined as the death of a newborn up to seven days or more.

Trump urges Putin to release dirt on Hunter Biden
Former President Trump called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to release dirt on President Biden's son Hunter Biden during an interview published Tuesday. "One thing, while I'm on your show, as long as Putin now is not exactly a fan of our country, let him explain, where did — because Chris Wallace wouldn't let me ask the question — why did the mayor of Moscow's wife give the Bidens, both of them, $3.5 million dollars? That's a lot of money," Trump told John Solomon and Amanda Head on the "Just the News" show on Real America's Voice network. Trump added that, "I would think Putin would know the answer to that. I think he should release it."

Civilian Army leader led child porn ring, risked US security
David Frodsham was a top civilian commander at a U.S. air base in Afghanistan when Army commanders ordered him home after investigating multiple complaints of sexual harassment. "I would not recommend placing him back into a position of authority but rather pursuing disciplinary actions at his home station," wrote one commanding officer when recommending that the Army order Frodsham to leave his post at Bagram Airfield and return to Fort Huachuca, a major Army installation in Arizona, according to a U.S. Army investigative file obtained by The Associated Press. But when Frodsham returned to his home station in the fall of 2015, he rejoined the Network Enterprise Technology Command, the Army's information technology service provider, where he had served as director of personnel for a global command of 15,000 soldiers and civilians, according to his Army resume.

Response to those that are whitewashing the far-right, ultranationalist movement in Ukraine
There are some comments made on social media, to whitewash and downplay the serious issue regarding a far-right/ ultranationalist movement in Ukraine. Such simplistic takes are seen as a sound reason for denying a Russian military intervention* in Ukraine. This article provides some responses to these, by using a combination of corporate MSM and Ukrainian information to address the points made about a handful of far-right groups and individuals and their influence. How many deputies does Right Sector or other ultranationalists have in the Ukrainian Rada? Remarkably, people use this stance over and over on social media and in the press to justify that there is no ultranationalism problem in Ukraine. To them, support & evidence and ultra-nationalism ought to translate into votes and winning seats in the Ukrainian parliament. If only it were as simple it is seems. It goes much much deeper, and the roots are deeply established.
