Mountains resorts in California see up to 8 inches of spring snowfall
It may be officially spring, but the local mountains are looking a lot like winter as more snow blankets the slopes. This week's storm brought a much-needed shot of the white stuff to local mountains resorts. Many resorts were already planning closing dates, but the recent snowfall will be enough to keep lifts operating for at least a few more weeks. The storm added 3-to-5 inches of snow to Big Bear area resorts, while Mountain High in Wrightwood got an estimated 4-to-6 inches. Further away, Mammoth Mountain received 7-to-8 inches.

Responses to those whitewashing the far-right, ultranationalist movement in Ukraine
There are some comments made on social media, to whitewash and downplay the serious issue regarding a far-right/ ultranationalist movement in Ukraine. Such simplistic takes are seen as a sound reason for denying a Russian military intervention* in Ukraine. This article provides some responses to these, by using a combination of corporate MSM and Ukrainian information to address the points made about a handful of far-right groups and individuals and their influence. How many deputies does Right Sector or other ultranationalists have in the Ukrainian Rada? Remarkably, people use this stance over and over on social media and in the press to justify that there is no ultranationalism problem in Ukraine. To them, support & evidence and ultra-nationalism ought to translate into votes and winning seats in the Ukrainian parliament. If only it were as simple it is seems. It goes much much deeper, and the roots are deeply established.

Ukraine calls on world to ban 'Z symbol' associated with Russian military
Ukraine's foreign minister has called on countries to ban the use of the letter "Z" as a symbol of the Russian war on his country. In a tweet on Tuesday, Dmytro Kuleba said the letter in some contexts "means Russian war crimes, bombed out cities, thousands of murdered Ukrainians". Comment: Except the symbol doesn't represent any of these baseless accusations, because Russia has been bombing military installations. Instead, it has gone out of its way to evacuate civilians via humanitarian corridors, that it set up and is maintaining. Only then has it targeted Ukraine's neo-Nazi aligned military, who have based themselves in residential areas in an attempt to use civilians as human shields. Russian troops in Ukraine have painted the letter Z on the side of vehicles and it has been adopted by some in Russia as a symbol of support for what the Kremlin describes as a "special military operation" in the neighbouring country. Comment: When compared to US/NATO wars, Russia's incursion into...

Mysterious, giant stone jars found in India
Mysterious giant jars that may have been used for burial rituals have been unearthed across four new sites in Assam, India. The discovery comes from a major collaboration involving researchers at The Australian National University (ANU). The 65 newly discovered sandstone jars vary in shape and decoration, with some tall and cylindrical, and others partly or fully buried in the ground. Similar jars, some of which span up to three meters high and two meters wide, have previously been uncovered in Laos and Indonesia. "We still don't know who made the giant jars or where they lived. It's all a bit of a mystery," ANU Ph.D. student Nicholas Skopal said. Another mystery is what the giant jars were used for. The researchers believe it is likely they were associated with mortuary practices. "There are stories from the Naga people, the current ethnic groups in north-east India, of finding the Assam jars filled with cremated remains, beads and other material artifacts," Mr. Skopal said. Oldest sun observatory in the Americas built by an unknown culture
Long before the Incas rose to power in Peru and began to celebrate their sun god, a little known civilization was building the earliest known astronomical observatory in the Americas. While not quite as old as sites like Stonehenge, these ancient ruins, known as Chankillo, are considered a "masterpiece of human creative genius", holding unique features not seen anywhere else in the world. Based in the coastal desert of Peru, the archaeological site famously contains a row of 13 stone towers, which together trace the horizon of a hill, north to south, like a toothy bottom grin. Apart from this remarkable structure, known as the Thirteen Towers, the ruins of the observatory also include a triple-walled hilltop complex called the Fortified Temple and two building complexes called the Observatory and the Administrative Center. Completed over 2,300 years ago and abandoned in the first century of the common era, the site has remained a mystery to travelers for centuries. Only when...

Human cells have weird 'tentacles' that help them move around. Here's how they work
A cell is not an island. Each one has a host of ways to detect its surroundings, and even physically reach out to neighbors or enemies using strange cellular appendages. These tentacle-like protrusions are called filopodia, and a new study has given us more insight into how they allow our cells to move about, by twisting the skeleton-like inner scaffolding. "These structures play a pivotal role in .. allowing cells to explore their environment, generate mechanical forces, perform chemical signaling, or convey signals via intercellular tunneling nano-bridges," the researchers write in their paper. "The dynamics of filopodia appear quite complex as they exhibit a rich behavior of buckling, pulling, length and shape changes. Here, we show that filopodia additionally explore their 3D extracellular space by combining growth and shrinking with axial twisting and buckling of their actin rich core."

FEC fines DNC and Hillary Clinton for Trump dossier hoax
The Federal Election Commission has fined the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign for lying about the funding of the infamous, and discredited, Russian "dossier" used in a smear attempt against Donald Trump weeks before he shocked the world with his 2016 presidential victory. The election agency said that Clinton and the DNC violated strict rules on describing expenditures of payments funneled to the opposition research firm Fusion GPS through their law firm. A combined $1,024,407.97 was paid by the treasurers of the DNC and Clinton campaign to law firm Perkins Coie for Fusion GPS's information, and the party and campaign hid the reason, claiming it was for legal services, not opposition research. Instead, the DNC's $849,407.97 and the Clinton campaign's $175,000 covered Fusion GPS's opposition research on the dossier, a basis for the so-called "Russia hoax" that dogged Trump's first term.

Northern parts of New South Wales, Australia were hit with a second major flood on 30 March 2022 after a levee along the Wilsons River in Lismore was breached once again. Residents of Lismore are still recovering from the devastating floods that hit the city from late February this year. New South Wales State Emergency Service issued evacuation orders for Lismore on 29 March 2022 after the Wilsons River started to rise. The orders were later cancelled but reissued on 30 March after the levee which protects the central business district (CBD) of the city was breached. The Bureau of Meteorology said the levee height is 10.65 metres. As of 30 March, the Wilsons River at Lismore stood at 11.40 metres. In a statement of 30 March, Lismore City Council said "Major flooding is occurring along the Wilsons River. Snow removal work underway on scenic mountain route in central Japan after higher than usual snowfall
Snow removal work on the scenic Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, which runs through the Northern Alps' Tateyama mountain range in central Japan, is progressing, and the beautiful curves created in the silvery white landscape remind people that "spring is near." Snow plows and bulldozers are clearing snow along the route, which connects Toyama and Nagano prefectures, with the aim of opening the entire road to traffic on April 15. According to the city of Toyama-based Tateyama Kurobe Kanko Co. Ltd., which manages the route, snowfall is higher than usual this year, with about 3.5 meters of snow recorded at 977 meters above sea level at Bijodaira, the starting and ending point of a highland bus service. At Murodo, the highest point on the road at 2,450 meters above sea level, about 7.6 meters of snow had piled up.

Senators seek to repurpose Russian assets for Ukraine aid
Sens. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) are introducing a bill to repurpose funds from seized Russian assets for a relief fund benefitting Ukrainian refugees and Ukraine's reconstruction, Axios has learned. Why it matters: The bipartisan effort is another sign Congress is keeping close tabs on the blizzard of sanctions imposed on Russia by the Biden administration. In this case, it's also taking the next step to clarify who should benefit and how. Driving the news: The bipartisan bill, dubbed the RELIEF for Ukraine Act, stands for Repurposing Elite Luxuries into Emergency Funds. It would direct money from liquidation of assets seized by the new Department of Justice KleptoCapture task force into a Ukrainian relief fund. That, in turn, would be used to support Ukrainian refugees, Ukraine's reconstruction and other efforts. The fund would be administered by the State Department, in consultation with the U.S. Agency for International Development.

New batch of ex-ISIS members transferred from Syria to Ukraine
Dozens of extremist fighters have made their way from Syria's northern Idlib governorate to Ukraine to fight against Russian troops, according to a report by Sputnik Arabic. At least 87 former members of ISIS were allegedly transferred to the Syrian-Turkish border on 26 March under the direct supervision of the leader of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) armed group, Abu Mohammad al-Julani. The report indicates that most of the fighters are Iraqi, Chechen, Tunisian, and French nationalities. On 8 March, 450 HTS militants arrived in Ukraine to join the fight against the Russian army. According to the family members of the militants, high-ranking HTS leaders have been coordinating with senior leaders of the Turkistan Islamic Party group, Ansar al-Tawhid, and Hurras al-Din groups, to facilitate the passage of the extremists from Idlib to Turkey and then on to Ukraine.

Which European countries depend on Russian gas?
Russia will not be able to dissociate itself from US global unilateralism as long as it uses the US currency as a financial means for its business transactions. This dependence on the US dollar naturally puts Moscow at the mercy of the United States of America and its sanctions. The same applies to the European Euro, directly linked to European politics, which became a hostage to the US, as shown by the steps taken during the war in Ukraine. Indeed, most of President Joe Biden's decisions were followed by Europe despite its significant economic losses and US gains. This was evidenced by the West's freezing of about $300 billion of Russia's hard currency and gold deposited in Western banks. For this reason, Russia began several years ago to adopt the local currency to exchange payment for parts of its energy and trade with China, Iran, India and Pakistan. However, President Vladimir Putin warned the 48 countries classified as "non-friends" that the daily Russian gas bill, estimated...

An eye-opening 238 pages of just-released documents from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) disclose that in June 2020 — at the request of researchers at China's Wuhan University — the NIH deleted information about COVID-19 genetic sequencing. The tranche of emails, obtained by the non-partisan group Empower Oversight following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, reveal the frenzy of activity at the NIH following the deletions and show that an expert advised then NIH Director Francis Collins and Dr. Anthony Fauci that the coronavirus driving the global pandemic originated outside of the Wuhan food market as asserted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Requested last summer, the documents obtained by Empower Oversight highlight the circumstances surrounding the significant deletions by the NIH and are in stark contrast to the agency's "best practices of scientific openness and collaboration." Introduction to the Deleted NIH Coronavirus Sequences The deletions from...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pushes 'Great Reset' agenda, demands end of fossil fuel use in Europe
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, doing the bidding of his globalist puppet masters, is now openly advocating for the "Great Reset" agenda. Repeating globalist talking points about climate change, the actor stated: "Long before this war, it was clear that humanity should reduce the use of fossil fuels. The era of coal and oil has caused huge damage to the environment, to our planet as a whole. "Green technologies and green energy have become a logical and just answer to this challenge. European policy is already aimed at reducing the consumption of environmentally hazardous resources. But Russia's aggression against Ukraine and against everything that life in Europe is built on is an argument to accelerate the green transformation on this continent." Zelensky is advocating for policies directly out of the Great Reset playbook. His full statement can be seen here:

Russia and China to advance 'fair world order'
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is meeting, on Wednesday, with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, for the first time since Moscow launched its military campaign in Ukraine on February 24. Unlike most Western nations, and some Asian countries, Beijing has refused to condemn Moscow and rejected calls to impose sanctions. The neighboring countries will work to achieve "a multipolar, fair, and democratic world order," Lavrov said after arriving in Tunxi, a city in China's eastern inland Anhui Province, on Wednesday. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova posted a photo of the two ministers greeting each other with an elbow bump. Beijing has argued that economic restrictions disrupt world trade and will not resolve the conflict. Officials insist only dialogue and diplomacy can lead to peace. TASS quoted Wang as saying that despite "new challenges" to the ties between the two nations, "the will of both sides to develop bilateral relations has become even stronger."...

How Mariupol will become a key hub of Eurasian integration
Mariupol, the strategic Sea of Azov port, remains in the eye of the storm in Ukraine. The NATO narrative is that Azovstal - one of Europe's biggest iron and steel works - was nearly destroyed by the Russian Army and its allied Donetsk forces who "lay siege" to Mariupol. The true story is that the neo-Nazi Azov batallion took scores of Mariupol civilians as human shields since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, and retreated to Azovstal as a last stand. After an ultimatum delivered last week, they are now being completely exterminated by the Russian and Donetsk forces and Chechen Spetsnaz. Azovstal, part of the Metinvest group controlled by Ukraine's wealthiest oligarch, Rinat Akhmetov, is indeed one of the biggest metallurgic plants in Europe, self-described as a "high-performance integrated metallurgical enterprise that produces coke and sinter, steel as well as high-quality rolled products, bars and shapes." Amidst a flurry of testimonials detailing the...

SOTT FOCUS: MindMatters: "They Enjoy the Infliction of Pain": Psychopaths, Wokeness, Ponerology - with Michael Rectenwald
Many see through the destructive thoughts, emotions and policies of Leftist political dogma - thanks in large part to the actions and behaviors of their acolytes in academia, the media and other institutions. But few have as direct experience of it - and the wit and guts to call it out for what it is and share that understanding of it with stark clarity and aplomb - as today's guest. , however, is such a figure. After being "softly" ejected from his position at New York University for his critical tweets of the deleterious SJW culture he was witnessing, Prof. Michael Rectenwald steeled himself to examine even further the phenomenon he was witnessing and became a victim of. With his books Springtime For Snowflakes and Google Archipelago, and his prolific output of essays and articles, Michael not only documents his own personal journey through various intellectual currents and his own higher values, but also examines how these themes overlap with Big Digital and macro developments...
