A meteor was spotted by people across Merseyside. The UK Meteor Network described it as 'a fairly big meteor' in a post on social media . The ECHO's chief photographer Colin Lane spotted a 'mini fireball' in the sky on Saturday evening. Colin, who lives on Merseyside, said: "I was looking up at the clear sky a mini fireball caught my eye. I initially thought it was a firework but there was no sound. It was falling from the sky with a golden glow fireball. Guessing it was meteor or shooting star."

Japan will revise its foreign exchange law to prevent Russia from evading Western financial sanctions following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine through cryptocurrency assets, top government officials said on Monday. The government will submit a revision of the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act to the current parliament session to strengthen protections against potential sanction-busting by Russia through digital assets, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said in a press conference. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also called for the law to be amended in a Monday parliament session, where he stressed the need for coordinated moves with Western allies after attending last week's Group of Seven summit in Belgium. Landslide in Azuay, Ecuador leaves 4 dead, houses destroyed
At least 4 people have lost their lives after heavy rain in southern Ecuador triggered floods and landslides in Azuay Province on 27 March 2022. Floods and landslides pushed rocks and debris onto the small community of Sayausí in Cuenca Canton. A further 27 houses sustained damage and many more are at risk and are being assessed.

Philippines, US start 'Balikatan' military drills in region near Taiwan
