Twitter now suspends Babylon Bee editor following 'joke' about satire site being suspended
Twitter has doubled down on its suspension of the account belonging to the satirical website The Babylon Bee by suspending the personal account of its chief editor after he 'joked' about what it would take to lift the suspension. The Babylon Bee's editor-in-chief Kyle Mann is in 'twitter jail', locked out of his account for suggesting that Twitter might lift its original suspension "if we throw a few thousand Uighurs in a concentration camp." The comment was likely a reference to Twitter allowing Communist Chinese Party PR people and apologists to operate freely on the platform.

2,300 Swedish and Finnish troops join 35,000 troops from 27 countries in Norway for annual NATO 'Cold Response' drill
Trucks packed with military hardware could this weekend be seen in big numbers on the roads that connect northern Sweden and Finland with neighbouring Norway. Several of them carried tanks and heavy armoured vehicles. Sweden and Finland have participated in the bi-annual Cold Response for more than 15 years. But this year is different. There is war on the European continent and the two neutral countries are increasingly at odds over how to address their national security.

Tall el-Hammam cosmic impact paper survives latest #Pebblegate anti-science attack
The Bunch et al. paper concerning the biblical city of Tall el-Hammam and co-authored by the Tusk has proven a dramatic publication. Arguably the most popular scientific journal article on earth, the paper has by turns been reported to millions; smeared by anti-Christian bigots; spared by a secular publisher; and most recently employed by James Lawrence Powell to defend the scientific method itself. Immediately after publication, a twitter mob of sciency people decided that the Tall el-Hammam cosmic impact paper was simply unacceptable. The smear was christened by the Tusk as #Pebblegate. Scientific method and centuries of epistemological discipline notwithstanding, these narrow minded ideologically driven actors decided that an archaeologically experienced bible school, joined with a well credentialed, multidisciplinary, but controversial team of impact scientists, should not be allowed to present their discovery — and must be suppressed. The awareness of the world not having the usual supply of food available for the global population will tear the threads of civilization. Scholz warns Russian energy ban would mean European recession
An immediate ban on Russian energy imports would trigger an economic recession in Germany and across Europe, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned Wednesday. Speaking to the Bundestag, Scholz said Germany would end its energy dependence on Russia in due course but cutting all ties now would hit the German economy when it was unprepared. "We will end this dependence [on Russian oil, coal and gas] as quickly as we can, but to do that from one day to the next would mean plunging our country and all of Europe into a recession," the chancellor said, warning that "hundreds of thousands of jobs would be at risk, entire industries would be on the brink." Comment: Isn't it curious that until recently Germany saw Russia as trustworthy enough to bet much of its entire economy on, and with a view to deepening ties even further with Nord Stream II, and now, suddenly, Russia is the enemy. However not so much of an enemy that they'll stop receiving its gas and oil.

Wintry scenes after unexpected snow band sweeps central New Mexico
This morning, many in the area woke up to a couple of inches on the snow as a blast of winter weather unexpectedly hit the region overnight. The snow began around 11 p.m. Tuesday and ended early Wednesday. The Sunport received 3.1 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service while places such as Edgewood received as much as 6.1 inches. 3.9 inches was also reported Tuesday night in Santa Fe. Multiple agencies told KOB 4 they did know this storm was coming and they were able to prepare crews in time, just not how much. Looking at the roads now, you'd never know the metro got hit with a major snow storm overnight. "Two o'clock, it just started really coming down, and unfortunately, when these last few storms have hit, they've hit right at like the time when the temperatures are dropping before the morning commute," said Kimberly Gallegos with New Mexico Department of Transportation.

Spain hit by yet another mass protest over rising prices
As many as 150,000 farmers, ranchers and hunters marched Sunday through Madrid to protest the Spanish centre-left government's failure to tackle soaring prices exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The mass demonstration came a day after thousands of demonstrators, called by the far-right Vox party, protested against rising food, energy and fuel prices. Hoisting Spanish flags and blowing whistles, demonstrators walked Sunday through the central avenues of the capital, often led by tractors blaring their horns. Slogans stamped on protest banners read "Costs continue to rise," or "We are ranchers on the way to extinction" and "S.O.S rural world."

Army drops 'leg tuck' from fitness test after women struggled with it
The Army announced Wednesday it was scrapping the "leg tuck" from its Army Combat Fitness Test for good, and replacing it with a plank, after data showed women were failing at even doing one. "The Army's decision to remove the leg tuck comes after a study from RAND concluded that the exercise did not correctly measure core strength in all Soldiers, as it relied on Soldiers' upper body strength as well. Instead, the plank exercise provides all Soldiers a similar testing experience and allows the Army to accurately assess all Soldiers' core strength," an Army press release explained. The leg tuck was one of a six-event test, aimed at testing a soldier's core strength. It required soldiers to hang from a bar and raise their knees to their elbows. The minimum to pass was one leg tuck.

19 years since the US invasion of Iraq, has the West learned any lessons?
Almost two decades and an estimated million deaths later, the media is beating the drums of war again The US-led invasion of Iraq in March, 2003 was a war now accepted to have been built on lies and is said to have killed as many as one million Iraqis. However, despite the horrific bloodshed inflicted on the Iraqi people, the Western public seem to have forgotten so many of the lessons that should have been taken away from the disaster that was the Iraq War. In the build-up to the war on Iraq, Americans were told that eliminating Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, was necessary for world peace. This was due to his alleged possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) as well as his alleged links with Al-Qaeda, among a number of other claims about Hussein's genocidal ambitions. Almost two decades and an estimated million deaths later, the media is beating the drums of war again The US-led invasion of Iraq in March, 2003 was a war now accepted to have been built on lies and is said to have killed as many as one million Iraqis. Home Depot's 'privilege' memo leaked online
Home Depot in Canada has come under fire after a Twitter user leaked what appears to be an in-house worksheet educating workers on the concept of privilege as it pertains to race, religion, sexuality, and social status. The document titled 'Unpacking privilege' attempts to define the different types of privilege and how it manifests in everyday life and encourages Home Depot workers to confront their own privilege and discuss it with "uninformed" family members, colleagues, and friends, even if it's "not an easy conversation" and the other person is being "defensive." Some of the definitions presented in the worksheet include: Social Privilege - "special, unearned advantage or entitlement, used to one's own benefit or to the detriment of others" and White Privilege - "societal privileges that benefit white people beyond what is commonly experienced by people of color under the same social, political, and economic circumstances."
