Twitter has doubled down on its suspension of the account belonging to the satirical website The Babylon Bee by suspending the personal account of its chief editor after he 'joked' about what it would take to lift the suspension. The Babylon Bee's editor-in-chief Kyle Mann is in 'twitter jail', locked out of his account for suggesting that Twitter might lift its original suspension "if we throw a few thousand Uighurs in a concentration camp." The comment was likely a reference to Twitter allowing Communist Chinese Party PR people and apologists to operate freely on the platform.

Scholz warns Russian energy ban would mean European recession
An immediate ban on Russian energy imports would trigger an economic recession in Germany and across Europe, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned Wednesday. Speaking to the Bundestag, Scholz said Germany would end its energy dependence on Russia in due course but cutting all ties now would hit the German economy when it was unprepared. Rain (and some snow) soaks Twin Cities, parts of Minnesota see foot of snow
The Twin Cities metro is waking up to a fresh little coating of snow on our cooler grassy surfaces Wednesday, while parts of northern Minnesota saw over a foot of snow. The rain rolled in by the latter part of the morning and hung around all day and much of the night before switching to some flakes for a while early Wednesday. Much of the area has received more than three quarters of an inch of rain with MSP Airport now just shy of an inch. Some spots just west and south of the Twin Cities have seen as much as an inch and a quarter.

Wintry scenes after unexpected snow band sweeps central New Mexico
This morning, many in the area woke up to a couple of inches on the snow as a blast of winter weather unexpectedly hit the region overnight. The snow began around 11 p.m. Tuesday and ended early Wednesday. The Sunport received 3.1 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service while places such as Edgewood received as much as 6.1 inches. 3.9 inches was also reported Tuesday night in Santa Fe. Multiple agencies told KOB 4 they did know this storm was coming and they were able to prepare crews in time, just not how much. Looking at the roads now, you'd never know the metro got hit with a major snow storm overnight. "Two o'clock, it just started really coming down, and unfortunately, when these last few storms have hit, they've hit right at like the time when the temperatures are dropping before the morning commute," said Kimberly Gallegos with New Mexico Department of Transportation.

Russian stocks on the rebound after markets reopen
Trading was suspended since February 28 Russia's stocks continued to rise sharply on Thursday as the Moscow Exchange reopened for limited trading this week, after suspending most of its transactions on February 28. The ruble-based MOEX benchmark went up more than 11% to 2,743 points. The dollar-denominated RTS index of leading Russian stocks was down slightly, to 888.59 points. The Moscow Exchange resumed trading in 33 Russian equities, including shares of Gazprom, Sberbank, Aeroflot, and other domestic firms. Russian chess star banned by International Chess Federation for political statements
Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin has been hit with a six-month ban by the chess authorities after the 32-year-old issued support for Russia's military operation in Ukraine. Karjakin, who was born in Crimea and changed his nationality from Ukrainian to Russian in 2009, will miss the forthcoming Candidates Tournament between June 16 and July 7 barring a successful appeal, after the International Chess Federation (FIDE) imposed sanctions. Army drops 'leg tuck' from fitness test after women struggled with it
The Army announced Wednesday it was scrapping the "leg tuck" from its Army Combat Fitness Test for good, and replacing it with a plank, after data showed women were failing at even doing one. "The Army's decision to remove the leg tuck comes after a study from RAND concluded that the exercise did not correctly measure core strength in all Soldiers, as it relied on Soldiers' upper body strength as well. Instead, the plank exercise provides all Soldiers a similar testing experience and allows the Army to accurately assess all Soldiers' core strength," an Army press release explained. The leg tuck was one of a six-event test, aimed at testing a soldier's core strength. It required soldiers to hang from a bar and raise their knees to their elbows. The minimum to pass was one leg tuck.

Home Depot in Canada has come under fire after a Twitter user leaked what appears to be an in-house worksheet educating workers on the concept of privilege as it pertains to race, religion, sexuality, and social status. The document titled 'Unpacking privilege' attempts to define the different types of privilege and how it manifests in everyday life and encourages Home Depot workers to confront their own privilege and discuss it with "uninformed" family members, colleagues, and friends, even if it's "not an easy conversation" and the other person is being "defensive."
